Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

The Burnhams – 5 miles from Wells-Next-the-Sea The Burnhams is the name given to the villages grouped around the River Burn on the North Norfolk Coast. There is Burnham Market, the main village and is known as "Chelsea-on-sea" as it is full of trendy shops, similar to the ones down the Kings Road!

Burnham Overy Staithe is on the coast and provides moorings and launching for boats. Burnham Thorpe is where Nelson grew up, with his father Rector of the local church. Burnham Overy Town, Burnham Deepdale and Burnham Norton are all small residential villages

Walsingham Catholic and Anglican Shrines – 5 miles from Wells A place of pilgrimage since medieval times, a lovely village well worth a visit

Hunstanton – 19 miles away The largest sea side town on the North Norfolk coast and home to Sea Life Santuary, cinema, theatre, and leisure center as well as a beautiful sandy beach!

Sandringham – The Norfolk retreat of HM The Queen Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty the Queen, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs.

Wells-next-the-Sea

Wells-next-the-Sea is one of the most attractive towns on the North Norfolk Coast. From the long sweeping beach bordered by pine woodland, along the gentle harbour with small fishing boats and children fishing for crabs, past the shops on Staithe Street with not a chain store in sight, to the tree-lined park with its fine Georgian houses, quiet pubs and restaurants - Wells is an unspoiled seaside destination, waiting to be discovered.

Just off the Quay you can catch the miniature steam train that takes you the mile or so down to the beach. The beautiful sandy beach, with its pine trees, sand dunes and colourful beach huts, stretches for miles towards Holkham and was famously featured in the film Shakespeare in Love. The wide, flat beach is ideal for collecting a wide variety of shells. You can also spot oyster catchers and ringed plovers, who nest on the beach, along with some common and little terns.

The area around Wells provides opportunities for sightseeing, water sports, bird watching, country walks and plenty of family fun. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has lots to offer.

“Great for family gatherings”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2016

We arrived at Tolly House with 3 families for a holiday. The house was very well equipped and to a good standard. It had a small garden which was enclosed and great for 2 toddlers. It's a shame the house wasn't designed with a toilet on the top floor. This meant two top floor bedrooms had to come down to the floor below for the bathroom. We knew this and managed ok Car parking at the back of house. A short walk to main high street and various pubs etc. We have been to Wells next the sea many times before but if this is your first visit then you won't be disappointed.

Many thanks for taking the time to review Tolly House and the toddlers enjoyed the garden. Pleased you love Wells as much as we do.

“An excellent house, well-equipped for all ages, in an ideal situation!”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2015

Tolly House provided us a wonderful place at which to celebrate an important birthday with the whole family. A supermarket delivered party food and The Crown was great for a special lunch. The house is in a place convenient to access the many local attractions; we certainly hope to return to Tolly House knowing it to be very clean, welcoming and well-equipped.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. So pleased the birthday celebrations went well and you had a good holiday.

“Couldn't be better”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2015

Excellent house with owners who had thought of everything. We were an extended family from baby to great grandmother and all enjoyed our stay immensely. The house was very clean and very well equipped. I'd have no hesitation in recommending it to others and hope maybe to return sometime.

Many thanks for taking the time to review Tolly House and so pleased everyone had a lovely holiday!

“Comfortable, home from home in superb location.”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2013

Clean, comfortable house with large rooms over three floors. Enclosed garden with plenty of off road car parking. Wells town has a lovely range of shops & restaurants supplying local produce. The walks were fabulous whether beach, forest or stately homes. Absolutely loved Holkham Hall and the deer park. If you fancy a trip out Blickling Hall is a stunning National Trust property but the best trip of all was the seal trip out to Blakeney Point. We stayed for a week but couldn't fit everything in so will be back again in the summer.

So pleased you had a good stay at Tolly House and look forward to having you back again this year!

“The perfect holiday home”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2013

We were a family spanning three generations and including toddlers and a baby. The house couldn't have been lovelier. For a start everything worked. Everything was of excellent quality. The location was splendid. The place was clean and uncluttered and it had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. There was an enclosed garden - and fascilities to suit every one of us. The house was so comfortable and peaceful. The owners left us excellent information and a welcome pack and we plan to return. We have self catered a lot and this property was first class in every way.

Many thanks for taking the time to review Tolly House. So pleased you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to having you back again!
