Getting around

The cottage is ideally situated in the heart of Sedbergh, making many of the local pubs and shops accessible on foot. For book lovers, there are many bookshops less than 10 minutes from the cottage by foot, including the huge Westwood Books on Long Lane. It is also a great starting point for many walks around the local area including Winder, Cautley Spout and Akay Forest (via the Pepperpot). We do recommend visiting with a car as it allows a greater degree of flexibility when exploring around the Dales and the Lake District. There are buses and local taxi firms should you wish to visit other towns in the area such as Kirkby Stephen and Kendal. Information is available from the Visit Sedbergh website.

Interaction with guest

Keys will be made available for collection on the arrival date of your stay. If you are expecting a late arrival, however we will make alternative arrangements. The owners of the cottage do not live locally but we have a contact in the local area who is available in emergency situations, otherwise Rachel the property manager is available on the phone number provided. Just ask if you have any questions about the local area or want a recommendation for things to do whilst in Sedbergh.

This lovely little cottage is in the very heart of a beautiful Village. Whilst the cottage is small it is full of character and close to all you need. The cottage owner was extremely helpful and the queries we had prior to our stay were promptly responded to. Great for a walking weekend and as our dogs were welcomed - it perfectly met our needs. The first snow of winter arrived on Saturday and we walked Windle Hill. Stunning. Thank you.

Cosy, comfortable, clean little cottage.\well equipped, everything you could need. The location of the cottage is central for all the shops, public houses and eating establishments.

“A great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales”

The house is compact and well located within the village of Sedbergh. Entry and exit are right onto the narrow street so car parking in another area has to be found, either pay and display or a lucky spot elsewhere. The owner was helpful in this regard. The main drawback for a longer stay eg a week or more is the lack of clothes washing facilities and this, as well as a few minor issues regarding kitchen supplies has been relayed to the owner. The village is delightful and has a large boarding school with sporting areas as well as a gourmet butcher/deli just two doors up.A small supermarket and fruit shop as well as a couple of pubs and markets make for a pleasant stay.
