Superbly situated by the River Derwent with fishing rights from the garden and riverbank, this delightful conversion, formerly a mill, has been lovingly refurbished by the owners who live adjacent to the property.

Luxury 5 Star River Cottage offers excellent holiday accommodation to a particularly high standard and is ideal for families and couples alike. The master bedroom houses a King Size bed, en-suite bathroom and views over the garden and river, whilst the lounge hosts a woodburning stove - a must for those cooler evenings! FREE WIFI is available.

This peaceful setting is perfect for those who simply wish to relax and unwind, whilst handy for exploring the coastal resort of Scarborough, some 3/4 miles away, the historic City of York, under an hour's drive and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park, often referred to as 'Heartbeat Country'.

Numerous attractions in the area will suit all age groups, from golden beaches, Scarborough's historic Spa and South Bay, children's amusements, Alpamare Waterpark and Flamingo Land Adventure Park and zoo. From River Cottage, a quiet lane leads to the main road with numerous shops including a post office, mini supermarket, chemist and homemade cake and pie shop. Two pubs and a fish restaurant are also within easy walking distance, or if you wish to drive, a further selection is available en-route to Scarborough.

For those with an interest in horse riding, Ireton Riding Centre is just a mile away from the cottage, along with Wykeham Lake which offers trout and course fishing and sailing.

We booked the cottage for our mums 60th birthday, on arrival there were homemade scones jam and cream which was lovely. Tea bags coffee milk all provided which is great. The cottage is gorgeous, very clean. The garden and river is lovely, our kids loved running around. We used the bbq too which was great. It’s a ten minute drive to Scarborough and some lovely pubs around. We wish we had booked for longer. Hopefully visit again next year!

What can I say. We had a fabulous time at River Cottage celebrating a 60th birthday. The cottage is a perfect size for 8 guests, beautiful and spotlessly clean. We had everything we could possibly need for a weekend away. John delivered a basket with lovely fresh scones with jam and cream on arrival which really set us up for a perfect weekend. We'd love to visit again in the summer to use the lovely gardens and bbq! Thank you again for having us, we'd recommend to anybody wanting to visit North Yorkshire

How do damage deposits work?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send River (the owner) a message.

If River (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
