Description from owner
This lovely unique four bedroom villa, which was built in 2005, is located in the peaceful and beautiful, typically Greek Village of Sarlata on the unspoilt island of Kefalonia. The Villa has its own swimming pool and is privately owned by Jan and Stephen Jenner, who have used their many years of experience of offering their villa for holiday rentals to gain many repeat bookings and have a passion to provide the best possible accommodation & facilities along with excellent customer service to be able to offer everything you would expect from a luxury holiday villa.
We realise how challenging it can be travelling with babies & young ones so we have put together a baby corner consisting of 2 travel cots,2 high chairs, 2 Motorola baby monitors, 1 Tomme Tippe microwave steam sterilizer & bottle warmer, a baby changing mat, a basic pushchair/buggy, a stair gate.
The Villa is set among a back drop of Olive, Lemon and Orange trees with stunning views over the Ionian sea and Bougainvillea, oleanders and many other flowering shrubs create a colourful display around the building. It has four bedrooms and 4 bath/shower rooms, 2 fully fitted kitchen's (a rare find in Kefalonia) and a lounge/dining area making it ideal for that family holiday, The Villa is approximately 2 Km from Ammes Beach with some very good tavernas nearby. There is also a small local shop within 2-3 minutes walk. The Villa sleeps ten people but can accept an extra small child, It is also ideal for couples and small families where a special price can be agreed.Prices start from £725 per week for eight people or less. The price includes Air Conditioning, Maid Service and clean linen weekly. For your convenience we provide the use of beach towels free of charge. The Village of Sarlata is a typical small Greek village with some wonderful old and new buildings, a lovely old church and some stunning views. It is ideal for walks and has some beautiful wild flowers at certain times of the year. The Villa is managed by local English people who lives close by who can offer great advice about the island and the local area.A £200 Per Week Non-Refundable Deposit secures your booking.*special rates for couples & smaller families*Past reviews received ..........Timothy JSunning it up in style5 out of 5 Review Submitted: 24 August 2012 Date of Stay: July 2012 What a fantastic villa and holiday. All the facilities you could want, plenty of space, air conditioning, facilities by the pool and the all important pool. We had a wonderful two weeks. The villa is in a quiet village with great views. The property is well maintained with a friendly management team who were really helpful. We enjoyed the local beaches, lots of time by the pool, morning strolls in Argostoli and a day out to Assos. Try some wine tasting at Gentillini winery on the road towards Lassi. Good selection of DVD's provided which the children enjoyed watching in the evenings. Would recommend this property to all. What a lovely island. Jenny K.5 Perfect!5 out of 5Review Submitted: 13 August 2012 Date of Stay: July 2012 What a find! Villa Margaret Rose really has it all - exceptional accommodation, a stunning setting and an ideal location for exploring Kefalonia - I can't recommend it highly enough. The villa makes a luxurious home from home, with every last detail thought of, and is beautifully maintained and cleaned by the most friendly, helpful team of people - Doug and Suzanne make wonderful managers, a real addition to a superb holiday base. We loved it. You will need a car - and confidence with a clutch for the rather steep driveway! - but having two excellent beaches nearby at Ammes and Avithos, some great tavernas (eating by the beach at Avithos was sheer paradise), and Argostoli within 15 mins is a definite plus. The sandy local beaches are among the best we found - especially for kids - while further afield the harbour towns of Assos and Fiscardo are a must, and the drive to Lourdata and Sami offers up some breathtakingly lovely views as it winds through some magical Greek villages. Melissani and Drogorati Cave are also well worth a visit. The Jenners couldn't have been more helpful, even phoning to let us know where shops would be open on the Sunday we arrived - and were great when we realised we'd left our son's teddy caught up in bedding! Our kids (9 & 13) made extremely good use of the pool (and the pool table!), and Steve and Jan really had thought of everything - even a good selection of DVDs and games. You really can trust this site – there are no clever photography tricks or flowery fibs here, this villa does exactly what it says on the tin. The proximity to the airport did worry me before we arrived, but once there it really isn't that noticeable - the island doesn't seem to get that many flights - so don't let that put you off. Kefalonia is a truly lovely Greek island to explore as it isn't quite so touristy as some of the others and it does do beauty like no other. In fact, if I have to come up with a negative, it would be that we had to leave and come home. I will definitely be booking again! The owner's own books and DVDs were available... we realy felt welcome, like in a home. The English gentleman taking care of the swimming pool every two days was a very pleasant appearance and so were the local ladies showing up for cleaning (at an incredible speed). Have to say a car is definitely a must and some outstanding driving skills to come with it too, as the parking way is incredibly steep. There is a large selection of terraces in Lassi prety close, Argostoli is also handy and besides that there are great places on the island like Assos and especially Fiskardo - definitely an island worth seeing and probably coming back to. The villa is in a lovely little village in the hills within 5 minutes of the airport, with great views out onto the sea. There are plenty of restaurants and tavernas within a 5-10 minute drive away, as are some great uncrowded beaches like Avithos. The island's capital Argostoli is only a 15 minute drive too, and is great for wandering around later in the evening. The owners have provided everything you could wish for and it really feels like a lot of time, effort and consideration have gone into this property. The Villa itself is comprised of three levels. The living area being at the top. Three bedrooms, the main having ensuite are on the middle level. The bottom level is a massive open plan area, comprising of a sleeping area with double bed, which can be screened off a bathroom and a kitchen/utility area which leads out onto the terrace and pool. The villa is exceptionally well maintained by the local manager and cleaning staff who are an absolute delight to have around, and always willing to help with local advice so you can get the most out of your holiday. You really need a car to make the most of any holiday in Kefalonia as the island is so beautiful, with so many places to see. The northern tip of the Island including Assos and Fiscardo are well worth a visit. I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone, it really is a home from home. Close to the airport (yet far enough away) and with fantastic sea views. Constructed on 3 levels with well appointed accomodation. The only negative comment is that parking on the narrow road outside the villa is almost inevitable. This is due to the very steep and uneven drive to the property and the huge break-over ramp at the top of the drive. (Probably OK with a 4x4) A car is a must and the neighbours are very sensitive where parking is concerned. A problem on the first day! The property was very well presented and ably maintained by a local ex-pat. The location is ideal, in my view, having convenient access to the capital Argostoli in addition to the wonderful local beaches, bars and restaurants and also as a centre for touring and exploring the island. The pool and BBQ were welcome assets and the surrounding wooded countryside was home to a variety of birds and other wildlife. I particularly appreciated the proximity to Argostoli with its harbour, markets, bars and restaurants and the convenient access to the Lixouri peninsular by car ferry. I have re-booked for 2 visits in 2010 so it must have been pretty good. Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

“Perfect location for exploring the beautiful island with lovely views and so close to airport!”
We booked this conveniently located villa to celebrate a 60th birthday with family and friends and the amenities did not disappoint. Pool, BBQ, multiple balconies to enjoy the view from the hillside (one plane spotter among us was in 7th heaven as there were even binoculars available to view the planes arriving at the airport - or watch the birds of prey and swallows), games, wifi and CD player and owner Steve 5 mins away for local knowledge (Lidl supermarket on way to Argostoli, local bar with Sky tv for the rugby Lions tour). Maid service twice a week and beach towels supplied by the villa! Essential to hire a car as it is in a small village and 10 mins drive from one of the loveliest sandy beaches on the island (Avithos - with 2 excellent tavernas) and make sure one driver is bold enough to manage the very steep drive down to the villa. Airport is 5 mins away which did not spoil the tranquility but meant longer by the pool on the last day! Kitchens top and bottom of the 3 storey villa were a good idea - breakfast at the top with early morning views and couple sleeping in the "boudoir" on ground floor were undisturbed (open plan bedroom/games room/kitchen with voile curtains sectioning off bedroom might not suit honeymooners but our sun worshipper loved the 5 sec walk to the poolside!) but lower kitchen great for preparing evening meals and BBQ. Neighbours requested us to be quiet one night when we were still up after midnight talking by the pool and were not happy about parking our car near their villas/in front of their gates, but otherwise peace only disturbed by the Sunday afternoon drummer a few villas along. This was my 3rd visit to Kefalonia and still didn't manage to explore all corners of the island - plenty to do and lots of spectacular beaches as well as the tourist sights - turtles in the harbour, Melissani lake, Assos village (a greek Portmerion), Einos mountain and national park (amazing views), and last but not least, the many vineyards and wineries - the local wine is individual to the island (Robbola grape) and really good... (forget Retsina). Have already recommended the villa, location and island to friends and would definitely re-book - Steve was a pleasant, informative host who was never intrusive and the villa had everything you could want and was presented in excellent condition (including coffee grinder and beans for my 'barrista' daughter). Just expect when showering to wet the whole bathroom! (Of which there are 4) and possibly to adopt a cat and her kittens who entertained us most of the fortnight once they knew we were a soft touch and would leave out food for them.... One of the best greek holidays we have had. Many thanks, Steve and Jan.

Fantastic place and lovely people. The owners are so helpful and have done everything to make you feel at home. The views from the pool and balcony are beautiful. Loved exploring the island. Fiskardo is a must. Would return in a heartbeat.

“Outstanding Villa a True Home from Home”
This was our 4th visit to Villa Margaret Rose since 2006, we absolutely love Kefalonia and the villa is superb, always immaculate and exceptionally well maintained by the owner and Doug a British man who lives on the Island and attends to the Pool and cleaning he is always available for advice and tips on getting the most from your stay. The villa has recently had an additional fully fitted kitchen installed on the ground floor, with the swimming pool on this level it is a brilliant enhancement. The owner has also had broadband wifi Internet installed which my teenage kids fully utilised! I would recommend hiring a car and exploring the island it's truly beautiful and you'll be rewarding with stunning views and beaches as well as traditional and unspoilt Greek villages, Assos and Fiskardo are well worth a visit, or just laze about the pool! In summary Kefalonia is always at the top of our list when thinking about our holiday and the fantastic amenities and attention to detail coupled with a the owners genuine desire to look after you mean we wouldn't stay anywhere else than Villa Margaret Rose!
Owner's reply: Thank you for writing this, we do appreciate your comments and we are so pleased you liked our improvements.
“Lovely large well equipped villa with pool in a quiet village but convenient to airport and beaches.”
Have just spent a week at this lovely large villa in Sarlat which is a quiet village but close to the airport. The villa is very well equipped with cooking equipment, barbecue, pool table , board games and a good selection of DVD's to keep teenagers entertained. The villa was spotless and the staff are helpful and friendly. The beach towels supplied are an added bonus as is the WiFi. There are 3 lovely sandy beaches within a 30 minute stroll downhill , but get a lift back! Our favourite was Avithos which had a nice beach bar and two tavernas. To explore the island a car is essential and the owner has provided a comprehensive folder full of recommendations. Our personal favourites were the Captain Vangelis Kefalonian coast cruise which takes in Fiscardo and Melissani lake but it leaves from Scala, only a 40 minute drive. Also Assos is beautiful and the coast road takes you past a view of Myrtos beach which is spectacular. Argostoli town is nice at night time when it's cooled down. Would definitely return here
