Description

This very private 2 bedroom cottage, set in substantial grounds has been sympathetically refurbished, with traditional style flooring, beamed ceilings, solid wood windows, beautiful beamed ceilings, and an open fireplace.

Attention to detail has ensured the house remains light and airy despite its traditional build. There is a spacious kitchen with oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, and fridge freezer. The window overlooks the garden and pool . The kitchen leads up a few stairs into a pretty living room with lots of windows, fireplace, TV, DVD, CD, Comfy seating and dining table and chairs, and a door leading outside. WIFI

Upstairs the house has a pretty double bedroom with door leading outside, a twin room (which can also be converted to a double) and a luxury shower room with hydromassage shower.

Also upstairs is a very large light landing area with 3 windows and great views, with sofa bed which can be used as a further living area or as a third

Outside there is over 5 hectares of private land including a garden area , eating area, and woodland bordering a stream. The brand new Solar Heated Pool is 10M x 5M , plus Roman Steps and 1.5M deep .

There is a good size BBQ and pingpong too!

The views of the woodland and mountains beyond, give a feeling of pure peace!

NB solar heating in a pool purely increases the temperature by a couple of degrees .

Location description from manager

The Tuscany region

The Tuscan Region of Italy is well known for its warm balmy summers, beautiful countryside, rolling hills, mouth - watering food, and of course its towns and villages, rich with mediaeval architecture…

The Garfagnana region of Tuscany, often known as its 'Green Lung' is situated away from the milling crowds that can often be found at the most famous Tuscan locations and is totally unspoilt, remaining untouched by tourism.
The scenery is spectacular, green and mountainous with views of both the Apuane and Appenine mountains at every turn…And, due to the altitude whilst the weather can be very hot, it is always pleasantly cool for sleeping…
The food is usually home made, using home grown produce, and is typically simple and extremely tasty. Prices here remain very reasonable due to the fact that food is prepared with the locals, and not tourists in mind…The local wine is cheap and surprisingly drinkable!
The pace of life is slow and peaceful – spend your days enjoying secluded picnics, swimming in rivers, or watching locals play bocce or 'cheese throwing'. Visit hundreds of ancient hill top villages, or relax at home basking in stunning scenery.
For 'townie' days, visit the mediaeval towns of Barga, Lucca, Castelnuovo, with Pisa and Florence within easy reach too…

San Romano in Garfagnana

Situated high in the mountains 2km from the village of Corfino, this is a really peaceful retreat in the depths of the countryside, affording total privacy for a relaxing holiday. The village of Corfino itself has a basic shop, a couple of hotels with restaurants and a further two restaurants, so the house does not feel too remote! The National Park of Orecchiella is only a 10 minute drive, perfect for walking and Eagle spotting! There are supermarkets in the local village of Pieve Fosciana, a 15 minute drive and the market town of Castelnuovo is 20 minutes away. For days out, the medieaval town of Barga is 35 mins; Lucca 1 hr 15 mins, Pisa, 1 hr 35 mins.

“Superb Villa”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2015

Superb villa which has a super location with a large private plot with a lovely pool area. Super service of the hosts, who came with homemade cake and local delicacies. Can recommend this villa - we were 2 adults and 2 children (10 and 16)

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We are happy you enjoyed the care taken of you by the owners and also the privacy at this beautiful place. We hope to hear from you another time. Lorraine at tuscan-retreats
