The Getaway is the perfect place to relax and unwind, offering modern, fully equipped accommodation, to suit self catering either indoors or al fresco. Alternatively, guests could visit The Cock Inn 100m away, www.cockpub.co.uk, a 16th century coaching inn. The Cock offers a menu which combines food for a special occasion with value for money. The Atmospheric Bar with its Inglenook Fireplace is friendly and welcoming.
Nearby Ringmer village offers two pubs within 10 minutes drive and an excellent, independent butcher, bakers, greengrocer and small supermarket.
The Getaway is surrounded by fields, with a footpath to picturesque Barcombe Mills passing the gate. Walkers are within a short drive of the South Downs National Park, the South Downs Way and the Ashdown Forest, making this a wonderful base for walking breaks.
Glyndebourne is 2.5km away, so a visit to the Opera could be combined with the historic town of Lewes, offering a Norman Castle, Priory and Anne of Cleeves's house.
With Brighton only 1/2 hours drive away, The Getaway is an ideal place to explore this cosmopolitan town whether for its Regency history or vibrant night life.

The property is fully fenced, with a gate as the owners have a small, very friendly dog, with no road sense! Guests are welcome to bring their car inside the gate to unload and regular parking can be found in our off road car park.

House rules

Dogs are welcome by arrangement. They must be at least a year old and not left unattended in the Escape. We ask that they are kept on the lead in the garden, as Cara our dog is quite frightened by some larger dogs. There is a gate in the garden opening directly onto fields, where you can exercise your dog.
Please ensure all gates are shut at all times.
No Smoking Please.

“Ideal rural getaway”

The Getaway was exactly the right place for us to stay after our long trip from Australia. Great location, nice and quiet even with the pub next door, which was great for our first night’s meal in UK. Joy is a great hostess, always ready with suggestions and goes out of her way to help with any queries we had. If any of our family or friends are heading to UK, we will definitely recommend a few nights stay here. Places visited in the area were: Brighton, 17th Century Lewes Castle, Tunbridge Wells, drove through some really nice ‘Little Villages’, past some Oast Houses, something you don’t see in Australia, as well as the 10 Locks on the River Medway. Hastings, Rye, Biddenham, Tenterden and back to Ringmer via Uckfield.

“The Perfect Getaway!”

I had the absolute pleasure of spending my New Year here with my partner and my German Shepherd dog. The accommodation is first class and there is everything you need in a well designed and immaculately presented space. The owners are very welcoming (as is their lovely, friendly dog Cara) and made themselves available without intrusion. The surrounding countryside is amazing and spending New Year's Day at the coast with the dog was bliss! I hope to re-book in the summer so that I can see Joy's gardens in all their splendour. I have recommended the Getaway to everyone I've spoken to since my return and do so again here.
