From the owner

The cottage is currently left unoccupied for two days between bookings and the price per night reflects this. Bed linen and towels are always washed at high temperatures and then stored for at least one week before re use. Ironing also kills germs. Disinfectant is added to cleaning solutions. I keep myself safe as well as my guests :) It is best to book grocery deliveries in advance or bring everything that you will need just in case the shops are low on produce. However, the supermarkets have everything under control here in Pwllheli but there could be queues during holiday seasons.

Booking your stay outside of popular holidays dates may be quieter.

Originally built hundreds of years ago this detached converted barn is a perfect place to base yourself for an active holiday or to relax. It is has a calm environment with a solid desk and bright lighting in one room if someone needs to work at their laptop whilst the family go off and explore. With a 49" Smart T.V. to view your pics and videos on. One zip and link superking, one double and two singles beds Or four singles and one double. Lovely in all seasons and for all sorts of reasons.

Located amongst green fields in the middle of the Llyn Peninsula with beautiful views all around. Pen y Maes Cottage seems miles away from anywhere but is within a short distance of many tourist sites and the beautiful sandy beaches of the north Wales coast. Enjoy the calming views from every room out across the green fields to the hills. During the Spring and Summer sheep and cattle graze lazily in the fields whilst the Buzzards ride the thermals above. Wrens and other small birds often perch on the window frames pecking at the windows. Tawny Owls can be heard hooting at all times of the day and night. Stand at the front of the cottage at dusk to see the bats take flight [ apart from winter when they hibernate ]. You will experience the most beautiful sunsets and ever changing sky. On clear nights, particularly those crisp winter nights, be amazed at the starry skies. Watch for the August and January meteor showers and more at other times of the year (check your almanac). There are even spectacularly low flying jets every now and again when the RAF are practicing.

The university town of Bangor ( and Anglesey Island) is an easy 45 minute drive away.

For family and friends gatherings, there is a caravan site for tourers and tents just along the main road from the track entrance if your family or friends wish to stay there whilst you have the luxury of the cottage ;)

Facilities: This self catering property stands on its own with parking for three cars to the rear. It has three good sized bedrooms with two ground-floor doubles and a loft room twin. A well equipped kitchen-diner including dishwasher (in the tall cupboard) and washer/dryer machine. There is a ground-floor modern shower room with walk-in shower containing a 10.5kw electric shower. There is also a modern basin and toilet. A vanity area is situated opposite the shower room. The living-room contains a 49" flat screen Smart TV with USB etc. slots and a DVD player. The property has super-fast broadband / wifi connection. There is efficient electric heating ( with timer and sensors ) throughout the property plus two multi-fuel stoves, one in the kitchen-diner and one in the living room.

There is a small Londis shop for basic groceries just along the road in Y Ffor / Four Crosses plus a petrol station. The town of Pwllheli, where many shops and eateries will be found is only a short drive by car/bike. There are also buses from Y Ffor.

Bed linen, towels, fast Internet access and electricity are included plus a starter pack of logs.

The super-king bed can be separated into two singles. If this is required, please request this when booking your stay as all beds are made up prior to your arrival. The cot is a travel cot for one infant up to two years old.

This cottage may be unsuitable for the infirm due to the varying floor levels/steps. Some doorways are shorter than normal and have been retained for interest and authenticity.

Re. private track. The rutted farm track (not tarmac) runs from the b4354 and is half a mile long. It can seem very long and bumpy when you first use it. Below 10mph is advisable to prevent stone being flicked up. Stay central as there are hidden drainage ditches either side of the first part of the track. Please CHECK WITH YOUR HOST before booking if your car has very low suspension or trims. The center and verges are grass and weeds but become raised due to farm vehicle use. Prepare yourself for a muddy track during rain.

However, the host is on site and is available during your stay should you need anything such as extra cooking equipment. Hello. Please inform your host at the booking stage which beds are required. Once you have arrived dividing the super king bed into singles or visa versa is not possible .
Smokers and Vapers: Please be respectful. You may smoke outside of the property away from doors and windows. Please do not leave the butts or matches on the ground or in the plant pots, dispose of them safely into a lidded tin/travel ash-tray. Thank you.

On checking out please take all of your edible food and drink with you.

How do damage deposits work?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Maxine (the owner) a message.

If Maxine (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
