If you are not from the area, the “Neighborhoods of Philly can be difficult to understand. Two homes on the same street can claim two different neighborhoods, or not claim any neighborhood at all – The difference – Philadelphia does not have “legal” neighborhoods. While there are historical boundaries, realtors and individuals alike tend to stretch those boundaries in order to make a house sound more desirable. All that to say, this house is located on the “historical” north border of Fairmount with most people extending that border to Girard and points north. You get the added access of being close to the Brewerytown business corridor – complete with local brewery Crime and Punishment. (The history of Brewerytown and the fall of the Philadelphia Breweries – thanks to the prohibition – is at the very least and interesting read)
About this house – City Records indicate that this house was built in the 1920s, but pictures from before that time suggest otherwise. It seems that the city records put most homes at 1920. We believe it was completed in the late 1800s.
