Southern Shores house

“A large family that vacations together stays together.” I have four children each of whom has a spouse and children of their own. We total 19 people and we love this house. Its location (near the Foodlion Grocery and yet no street to cross on the way to the beach), access to the home beginning at 2 PM on Saturday, no linens to bring--all things that make it easy to have fun. The pool and hot-tub add very much to the enjoyment, the former is really handy for 1 to 3 year old children. The house works wonderfully for us. Nb: a second recycling container would really help since they come only once a week and second, the wood plank walkway to the beach is in definite need of some work. Several planks are missing, some are so warped they are a hazard, some are loose. Kids in flip-flops need to be careful or otherwise they'll trip.

“Our Wonderful visit to Trout House Falls” Thank you Jim, this was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. Wonderfuly appointed home, great location and the trout were practically jumping out of the river! Great restaurant suggestions and things to do. We will be back and hopefully soon! We won't soon forget the sitting for hours in the screened porch listening to the river! Thanks again!

North Carolina holiday cottage rental

Maggie Valley cottage

2 bedrooms • 2 bathrooms • sleeps 4

“Convenient location and beautiful creek.” We stayed in the Park Model cottage during our annual fall visit to Maggie Valley to see the leaf colors. This is a small two bedroom , 1 1/2 bath manufactored home that is in a very convenient location on Jonathan's Creek. The surroundings were tight but it suited two people well. The cottage had all the conveniences that anyone could want in a vacation stay. With the two bedroom closets there was enough storage space for two but storage and moving about would be a problem for four people. The creek behind the cottage was a fast moving beautiful body of water with lots of wood ducks to watch and we greatly enjoyed evenings sitting on the creek. The Browns were wonderfully responsive to any need we had and want their vacationers to be trouble-free. My only real complaint would be lack of many television channels. All the major over-air networks were available but I usually view cable networks and missed them (especially Espn).

Ski condo to rent in Beech Mountain

Beech Mountain condo

2 bedrooms • 2 bathrooms • sleeps 4

“Cute Condo, Convenient Location!” Very convenient location on the top of Beech Mountain, with lots of cute restaurants and pizza parlors within a five-minute drive (mountain cabin rentals tend to be in the middle of nowhere, so having close-by amenities was important to me). About 10-15 minutes away from Banner Elk, 45 minutes to Boone, and 1 hour to Blowing Rock. This little condo had everything that our family was looking for: separate bedrooms, king-sized bed in the master, separate bathrooms, kitchen, and a porch with a lovely view of the mountains! Having DirectTV was an added bonus at the end of a long day once we'd put the kids to bed for the night. It was just what we needed for our four-day weekend getaway!

North Carolina holidays

Conquer the Appalachian Trail, show your support for the mighty Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, or discover the real smalltown America in the depths of North Carolina. Whether you’re looking to escape or like a crowd, you’ll find what you need in the Old North State.

Why North Carolina?

Authentic America

North Carolina is home to none other than the Carolina Panthers - an NFL team who know better than anyone how to put on a show. But if football’s not your thing, the state capital, Charlotte, is home to another great American staple: the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Into nature

Acres upon acres of pristine woodlands, rolling hills and looming mountains define North Carolina. The opportunities to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city are endless, and the world-famous Appalachian trail is the crowning jewel. Following the border with Tennessee, the Trail gives you exquisite views over two states at once.

Southern sun

When you book a house or a beach rental in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, you’re signing up for a break on some of the most enchanting beaches in America. You’ll find it hard to believe you’re not in Miami! Golden coastlines bounded by rolling sand dunes invite you to forget all about the outside world.

Places to visit

North Carolina Coast

Escape to North Carolina’s Atlantic coast for a beach holiday to rival Hawaii. The state boasts over 300 miles of beaches, including two national seashores, all littered with charming small towns and lighthouses. Chill on the beach, enjoy sunset walks on the sand, or explore Carolina’s Civil War history at leisure.

North Carolina Smoky Mountains

The Great Smoky Mountains, spanning the Tennessee state line, are a sight to behold. Ever popular with nature-lovers, this national park is packed with famous landmarks like Clingman’s Dome. For a truly unforgettable trip, visit in autumn, when the endless trees turn a vibrant orange.

Ocean Isle Beach

Ocean Isle Beach, just north of South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach, is a gem on North Carolina’s coastline. In addition to pristine sand, Ocean Isle beach comes equipped with surf schools, fine restaurants, golf clubs and even a winery. For a beach break with a little luxury, look no further.

Wrightsville Beach

A proud holder of a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, Wrightsville Beach is as calm and clean as can be. White sand slopes gently down to the Atlantic while eagle-eyed lifeguards keep the beach safe for families. A picturesque marina and pier only add to the charm.

Things to do

Blue Ridge Parkway

“Around each bend is a marvelous view. No wonder this is one of America's best places to visit.”

Biltmore Estate

“Everything you've heard about the Biltmore is true—and even more! This place is like you've never seen before.”

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

“The lighthouse is a historic national treasure and the beaches on the east coast are unmatched. A must-visit!”

Wright Brothers National Memorial

“Totally captivated from the moment we got there. The park ranger was so passionate about the story of the Wright Brothers.”

Airlie Gardens

“Enjoy a picnic or a good book under the huge 400-year-old oak tree, or take a lazy walk around the gardens.”

Battleship North Carolina

“History lives in Wilmington, NC at the USS North Carolina. You can go stem to stern and from the bridge to below decks.”

Fetching Fox Cabin
Cozy cabin

We enjoyed our stay, the cabin is small but cute, the Scenery surrounding the cabin is beautiful and we loved the location being only 8 miles from campus. Perfect for a family visiting college student. The cabin was pretty well equipped although it does not have central AC it does have a wall unit that worked well just not in the basement which did get a little warm. My only complaint was the furniture was very dingy in the family room definitely needs replaced or updated also would prefer comfortable seating on the back porch to enjoy the view like a rocking chair or Adirondack chair.see more
Owls Roost Cabin - Take In the Amazing View from the Inviting Screened Porch by
Beautiful cabin in very scenic, secluded spot!

We are enjoying a wonderful stay at this very beautiful, very well appointed rustic cabin. We especially enjoy the 360 degree wrap around porch and the large screened porch with its huge stone wood burning fireplace. The cabin is both very secluded; we don’t see or hear others around us, as well as very close to Bryson City with lots of restaurants, breweries, shopping, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad and other activities. And just an hours drive to Asheville. Not knowing in advance just what would be provided I brought a number of kitchen items and other things I thought we might need. But everything we could possibly need was provided! The cabin is very beautifully and comfortably furnished; the two handmade quilts on the beds really impressed me and we enjoyed discovering all the owls around the house! We would definitely like to come back for another visit as it would take more than one week to take in all that is possible here.see more
NEW! Emerald Isle Getaway w/ View: Walk to Ocean!
Beach blessings

Nothing compares to this wonderful getaway. Nicest beach vacation rental I've ever stayed in. Exceptionally clean...great location...view of the ocean from a rocking chair on the deck. Heated outdoor shower! So many extras I've never had at another rental before. Definitely returning to this one! … see more
Groove Stone Getaway
Perfect pet friendly getaway in the mountains

The location can't be beat, it was close to downtown, Biltmore, Grove Park Inn and numerous hiking trails of all levels. I even saw a little wildlife within a couple of hours of arriving when a black bear emerged from the neighbor's backyard! He/she appeared to be harmless, but we kept our distance. The yard was fenced in, making it perfect to let my small dog outside in the early morning or late evening hours. It was like a cabin in the woods, although it was in an older subdivision. Definitely would recommend it. I was looking for a little relief from the Florida heat and I found it!see more
