“Serenity in the woods” The home is absolutely beautiful. We came here for my birthday and had an absolute blast! The hot tub is enjoyable, especially in the cool nights, hanging out by the fire pit roasting marshmallows and being on the water was very relaxing. The boats provided make being on the lake more enjoyable. This home has everything you would want! Would definitely book again!!

“Vista is an amazing home in a gorgeous pastoral setting, in the” The description of Vista is certainly accurate, but we found it to be even better in person. Vista is a very special place that reflects the love and care of the Batten family. The spotless, comfortable, spacious home offers unobstructed country views showing off the Maryland countryside. The well-equipped kitchen and new gas BBQ made it easy to prepare meals. All of the outdoor areas are inviting to watch the active bird feeders, eating on the patio or deck, glimpsing the fish in the pond and watching sunsets and approaching thunderstorms. Vista is highly recommended! Vista provides a perfect base from which to explore the many historical sites. Chris and Melissa were available to answer any questions we had and made welcome suggestions, as did Bruce. The four of us stayed at Vista for 9 days and it was truly difficult to leave our new friends Chris and Melissa. As my friend said, "Every day we were so glad to have this slice of heaven to come home to." Rating 5 out of 5

Pennsylvania holidays

Pennsylvania is the perfect place to get a feel for what America is all about. There is a palpable sense of patriotism in the nation's original capital city, Philadelphia, and in the tight-knit community of Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania's vibrant cities are colourful towns that hold architectural gems such as Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water and regal natural splendours such as Lake Erie and the Poconos Mountains.

The cuisine of Pennsylvania is quirky to say the least. Home to the delectable cheesesteak sub (made with Cheese Whizz!), Tastykake, Heinz, Hershey's and the much-celebrated Wawa convenience store, it is no wonder this state is called the snack food capital of the world. There are also numerous places and activities for visitors to see and enjoy.

Here is a sampling of some of the destinations you will want to check out:

  • Philadelphia (Philly): Not only is it home to a plethora of historic treasures such as the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, but Philly also has world-class museums and restaurants to fulfil every appetite for culture and cuisine.
  • Dutch Country: Home to the Amish, Brethren and Mennonight people, this area is a short drive away from Philly and a rare preservation of a world past. Modern amenities such as electricity are not often found here, and residents opt to use horse 'n' buggy rather than the automobile.
  • Pittsburgh: Breaking free from its identity as a blue-collar city, Pittsburgh is worth a trip to visit the only Andy Warhol museum in the states and catch the Steelers play a game at Heinz Field.
  • Gettysburg: For anyone who wants to learn about American history and the U.S. Civil War, this is an ideal place to go. Visitors can tour battlefields and check out several museums. For those interested in the supernatural element, the area is also rumoured to be haunted with plenty of ghosts.
  • Hershey: If you are a traveller looking for something sweet, this is where your cravings will be satisfied. The heart of this town is of course the famous chocolate factory, but it has also become an excellent family resort destination offering plenty of activities for every age group.
  • Conneaut Lake: Situated between Pittsburgh and Erie, this natural water wonder is a great place for travellers to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. There is also an amusement park on hand to keep adrenaline lovers entertained.

In the Keystone State there is something to do in every season, so visitors will always have exciting things to experience. For example, during the winters to ski Pennsylvania's slopes is a popular activity. Throughout the year, no matter what the weather, visitors can also make a splash in Pennsylvania indoor water parks. Take a loved one on a romantic getaway in Pennsylvania and check out the landscape of this beautiful state while exploring Pennsylvania campgrounds.

After a long day of seeing the sights, there are plenty of options for where to stay. A holiday rental is a great way to make oneself at home, whether it is within a wood-side cabin in the country or a condo in downtown Philly.

No matter where you rest your head in Pennsylvania, beyond the peculiar towns and flourishing Cultural Centers reside a people that welcome visitors with open arms and embody the spirit of America.

Amazing, Truly Amazing

I stayed here for new years and let me tell you, my experience here was amazing. This is my first time being back in Lancaster and my first time renting out this home. The home does indeed feels like home. Kitty did an amazing job with this house and she is super nice <3! Definitely coming back here, I don’t know when but i am bookmarking this for future rental! Maybe not in the cold. Seeing snow was pretty cool but the cold got me severely sick but it was all worth it !! Thank you, kitty for letting us stay at your lovely home❤️see more

Leafy well-located apartment with garden and roof-top terrace

We spent two weeks in this wonderful apartment in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia. The location is great - opposite a fantastic coop, close to a coffee shop, walking distance to the train station. The apartment was spacious with a well-equipped kitchen, and a lovely roof-top garden to relax in. A short walk to the train station will get you into central Philadelphia. A short walk will also get you into the nearby park and trails along the local river. Pam, the owner, was very concerned to make us feel welcome and tell us about the area and things to explore. We felt welcome from the very first moment and can recommend this rental highly.see more

Away from it all, but close enough to civilization

I stayed here in early June of 2016. The house itself is quite charming. It included two nice sized bedrooms and a converted basement that had two more beds. You won't need to bring anything. All cookware and dishware are provided and very clean. The pictures really show exactly what the house looks like precisely. The real shining star of this property is the plot of land it is on. You have plenty of privacy, as you can't see any neighbors. Just the occasional deer or wild turkey. It can be a bit tricky to initially find, but once you do, it is simple to get in and out to the main roads. We had a blast gathering wood during the afternoon for our nightly camp fire in the back yard fire pit. (us city folk are waaay too easily amused) The owner Kerry was extremely polite and helpful. I asked a few questions, and he was super quick to get back to me. He checked in mid-week and asked me to water some hanging plants. (i think it may have been too late for one of them) Honestly, after a day or so, it felt like I was staying at my own home. Just very welcoming. The house is equipped with multiple security cameras on the outside. Initially, I was a bit weirded out, but I would probably equip them if it was my house as well. Lucky for me, I'm a 40 year old who acts like he's 70, so partying it up wasn't on my agenda. Beers by the fire was plenty enough action. Haha. If you want to get away and take in some beautiful nature, do NOT hesitate to rent this house. I left feeling completely refreshed, It was exactly what I was looking for. Five stars all the way.see more

Spectacularly Cozy Retreat

Properties in this resort are close together, but well thought out in terms of providing the renter maximum privacy from the other properties. If you have kids it is a wonderful place for them to find their own little retreat inside the house because there are so many rooms. The Hickory plank walls and ceilings throughout the home provide a rustic atmosphere that made for a blessed escape from our normal hectic daily pace. The large fireplace in the living room radiates "Cozy" by the ton. When we disagreed over what we wanted to watch, one of us would head for the spacious Master Bedroom to take advantage of one of the other large screen TVs in the house. Owner Mark L is meticulous in caring for the property. It was clear he had not just cleaned, but dusted literally every surface in the house. It exceeded all our expectations in terms of cleanliness. Mark also made himself available to us in the event we were in need of anything. I left one item behind, my cane! Mark sent it by overnight express. That was the only hitch in our entire stay. We are already thinking about returning and highly recommend this home as the prefect mountain retreat. Thank you so much Mark for making our stay a relaxing and memorable one.see more
