New York holidays

The state of New York really runs the whole spectrum, from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan to the silent, unspoilt wilderness of Long Island and the upstate areas. The Adirondack Mountains run through the centre of the state, offering endless opportunities to hike, fish and camp during your holiday, while majestic Niagara Falls highlights the state's western end. Regardless of where you choose to visit, New York is a vibrant, diverse state with much to offer.

Top highlights of the Empire State include:

  • New York City: The Big Apple has it all, from the Statue of Liberty and Wall Street to Central Park and the Empire State Building. You could spend your entire trip exploring New York museums and still not even scratch the surface of all there is to see. One day in the city and you'll see why people say, "I love New York!"
  • Niagara Falls: One of North America's natural icons, Niagara Falls is a must-see if you're in upstate New York. It's also a short drive from Buffalo, allowing you to head into the city for some authentic chicken wings and to check out some of the elite art and architecture.
  • Long Island: Home to the Hamptons, Montauk and huge expanses of unspoilt greenery, Long Island is a quiet respite east of New York City and offers the best of both urban and natural spaces. Many New York cruises also leave from Long Island ports, making it an excellent place to start an extended holiday in the Atlantic region.
  • Albany: The state's capital city has the feel of a much smaller town despite its metropolitan size. Its upstate location makes it the perfect base for exploring the Empire State's great outdoors, too.
  • The Adirondack Mountains: If you want to commune with nature, head into the Adirondacks to fish, hike, hunt or just take in the breathtaking scenery or tree-topped peaks extending into the sky.

Take the guesswork out of renting hotels by choosing holiday rentals in the city, such as condos and extended-stay apartment rentals. If you're on Long Island or upstate, you can also choose from a wide range of summer rentals, should you choose to while away the warm weather in New York.

New York is also an excellent base for exploring more of New England, particularly in the fall. If you're in the Niagara Falls-Buffalo area, you're just a hop, skip and jump away from Canada, too. Viewing the Falls from the Canadian side is highly recommended if you have the chance.

The Wescotts Townhouse
Great stay in the Adirondacks

Came to hike, location was not right in the middle of town and we liked that. Was within walking distance of everything. Quiet. The townhouse was very clean and well stocked with the basics. Rooms were large and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. We were worried about no air conditioning but it was just right - didn’t need any! Other renters were friendly and Carol was very nice. The book of info was very clear and helpful as well. Overall a great stay!see more
Adirondack Vacation Cabin
Cabin in the woods

Nice cabin. Very rustic and clean. You get the Adirondack feel for sure! Loved the location and the fire pit. Fire pit area is awesome!! The chairs provided were plastic Adirondack chairs with cup holders!!! Very comfortable! We had no bugs all weekend. They also have Tiki Torches around the fire pit. Just need to make sure they're full, or supply extras. Great price!! Had a great time! Deck is nice too. Only advice would be to put a railing going up the stairs. People are money hungry and between the small stairs and no railing, it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. TV kept buffering. Wifi is questionable. Mary and Fred were great. They always got right back to me with any questions I had.see more

Harlem Town House Apartment
Wonderful!

The apartment was spare but comfortable, and we lacked nothing. Neighborhood was lively and friendly, with legendary Sylvia's and the Red Rooster around the corner. Whole Foods one block away, as is the subway...15 minutes to Times Square! Easy ride to the airports. Milton is the best host ever...available, responsive, and a total delight.see more
~*Gorgeous*~ Specious 2BR NYC Apt!
Fantastic

Everything about the stay was great - the host and communication from beginning to end, the apartment block and the apartment itself, the facilities, the area, nice and quiet neighbours. We stayed 5 nights and it allowed us to discover the city as planned! Short walk to a lovely cafe, subway not far only 1 block away really, driving distance also good. The apartment has a nice bathroom, big kitchen with everything you may need in it, two comfortable and a/c'ed bedrooms, very comfortable beds, tvs in both rooms. There is nothing I can fault in this place. We kindly were able to check out later due to a late flight which was amazing, thanks TJ! Would definitely recommend this apartment and the host, for sure! Don't hesitate, just go ahead and book it for yourself!see more
Two bedrooms- Times Square-Midtown- Clean and New
NYC

We were let down by airbnb 10 days before we were due to go to NYC for my friend's and husbands 50th birthdays. So I checked holiday letting and found apartment 405 West 9th avenue. I booked it and was contacted with in 2 hours by owners pierre and it was confirmed it was booked. Apartment was spot on clean and cosy. Walter looks after the apartment and lives in the block he was there to meet us. He let us leave our bags on the day we left as we had a late flight. Whole process with holiday lettings was easy would definitely use them again and would stay here. NYC was everything and more thanks again to pierre and Walter.see more
