“Fantastic family fun in splendid house and grounds”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2011

We had a big family gathering of 11 people (5 children under the age of 9 plus 6 adults, one of whom is disabled) in order to celebrate a 70th birthday. Even before arrival, the house manager had been in touch and offered advice as to catering services (we thoroughly recommend the team at Relish who provided a really special meal with no fuss) and activities we might enjoy. He was also extremely helpful when contacted on the Sunday to see if he could provide a board to go under the mattress of our disabled party member and sorted it out for us. As for the house itself...wow! Huge character and space; high-end entertainment system; comfortable and luxurious furnishings; Star Wars pinball and Spaceinvaders; pool table and Playstation (+ games); loads of DVDs; table tennis and of course the well maintained tennis court. The garden is really lovely with plenty of space to dine, play (croquet/playhouses), relax (double hammock) and enjoy fruit & veg picking. The children had complete freedom and even when it tipped down for one day, there was plenty to occupy them in the house. Also, we had 2 dogs with us who had a spacious room to sleep in and a thoughtful welcome pack on arrival. They also enjoyed the lovely walks around the area. We could hear cricket being played on the pitch opposite the house and were tempted to stroll across but were just too comfortable where we were so never got to make use of the bar facility there either! However, we did take the children swimming at the hotel where we had free use of the pool, sauna and gym. It was a great week and one we may well repeat.

Thank you for choosing to celebrate a 70th birthday with us at Hill House. We are so glad that you had a great time- it means everything to us to hear this. Your feedback and review is so important to us. May thanks again.

“beautiful house, stunning grounds- all you need for a break in rural Norfolk”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2011

This house is a real stunner, with modern and antique furnishings that blend together effortlessly. It is in a private and secluded location on the edge of a beautiful South Norfolk village and yet only 8 miles away from the historic city of Norwich. A wonderful hamper is there to greet you, along with plenty of information to ensure you make the most of your stay. The house has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The beds are large and very comfortable, the bathrooms are modern, very tasteful and a real delight. The kitchen is very well equipped with top of the range facilities including an Aga cooker. For those who enjoy technology there is free use of an I-pad with wi-fi. If you enjoy your music then relax with a multi room sound system. The youngsters are also very well catered for with a pool table and play station on the second floor. The ample and well tended grounds are also a real pleasure including an organic vegetable garden. You can open the double doors from the beautiful sitting room where there is a large table, a barbecue and a hammock to lounge in. If you want to be more energetic there is a very good tennis court and outside table tennis, with all the necessary bats, and balls provided. Give this place a try, it is one place that you will never forget! I am already planning my return.

“Perfect luxury location for any family gathering or celebration.”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2011

We were a party of eight adults and four children plus one dog for the celebration of our golden wedding. The house was presented in an immaculate condition with every possible comfort catered for. We appreciated the space, the quality of the decor, the linen and towels. The location is ideal for access to Norwich and the Norfolk broads but the large and peaceful grounds of the house and the games facilities available were so good that we found it unnecessary to leave the location. For those interested in cricket the local ground is opposite the property. The free access to the health and swimming centre was a welcome bonus. For those interested there is an excellent farm shop about 10 minutes away on the road to Diss. The Wildebeest pub serves impressive food which is good value for money. We used the chef and butler service provided by Relish which is highly recommended for a celebration meal. The children aged 6 to 13 were never bored and improved their tennis, table tennis, croquet and pool skills.
