Description from owner

Description

Lorien is a modern Scandinavian style bungalow situated in the quiet centre of this popular village with a picturesque view up the River Nethy. Nethybridge is situated in a beautiful part of the Spey Valley and is found on the Coylumbridge / Grantown road about 12 miles north-east of Aviemore. The village lies on either side of the River Nethy and borders Dell Wood and Abernethy Forest. The property has four bedrooms - two double bedrooms, a triple room with bunks and single bed, and a bunk room - a large lounge / dining room and kitchen. There is a bathroom (with separate shower) and a shower room. There is also a study with a futon, which probably worls better for children or one adult. The house is triple glazed with electric storage and panel heating, and a wood burning stove. A conservatory looks out onto an attractive garden and there is parking for two cars and a single garage.

“Just ok”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2018

Rather shabby, very small kitchen, bathroom smelt of stale urine. This is the only house which charged for sheets: £8 per person, pretty steep and beds not even made up.

Owner's reply: Most people love Lorien and we were really sad that that wasn't your experience. Some things do get a little 'tired' over the eight-week summer period. We try to keep on top of that, but apologies for the bathroom carpet. This has now been cleaned and will be replaced with vinyl tiles shortly so the issue doesn't arise again. We are up front about the hire or linen and towels. It may seem expensive for a larger group, but works out better value for smaller groups or couples, and some people prefer to bring their own.

“Nethy Bridge long weekend”

Reviewed 8 May 2018

Fantastic weekend in lovely Nethy Bridge. 9 of us stayed in Lorien which was a perfect house in a perfect location. Situated in the centre of Nethy Bridge we had the shop, tennis courts, river and forest walks literally on our door step. House was warm, cosy, spacious and well equipped. We will be back. “Lorien, Nethy Bridge”

We had a fantastic long weekend at Nethy Bridge. The house was cosy and there was plenty space for two families! Ideal location to visit Aviemore and surrounding areas.

“Lovely, well-located, warm bungalow”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2016

This bungalow was right at the heart of the village of Nethybridge, looking onto the River Nethy. It was adjacent to the village shop on one side and the village hall on the other. Very convenient for a New Year's visit. It is also situated only metres from Abernethy forest which is wonderful for exploring. A great centre for outdoor activities. The bungalow was both clean and warm.

“Something for everyone.”

We went as a big family group including three generations: Grandparents, aunties, cousins and 4-7 year olds. Lorien was big enough to accommodate all of us and meet all our needs. Very well located for walks, the shop, the hotel for bar and restaurant. Enclosed garden was a real bonus for the kids to play in and the kids toys and books in the house were appreciated and used. Always lots to see and do in the area and Lorian was a great base for the week. Loved it - hope to go back sometime.

“You can't wish for a better cottage.”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2014

9 of us stayed at Lorien and it was absolutely fantastic, very well equipped, shop next door, lots of walks around, we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The rooms were great, very comfy beds and everything was clean and neat!!! Loved the fire place, the sitting room was so big and spacious. We even managed to park 3 cars in the driveway .... very pleased. Had an amazing stay, we will be back.
