The interior has been completely refurbished, but in keeping with the style of building. Downstairs we have three main rooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is brand new and comfortably sits eight. The dinning room is an attractive space and sits a further six. The living room has a wood-burning stove, comfortable sofas and a large flat-screen TV (smart-TV and satellite). The living room sofa also doubles as a bed for extra guests or those who find stairs difficult. All three bathrooms are equipped with modern showers.

Whether you are looking for relaxing family orientated activities or more adventurous outdoor pursuits, Stoer is the perfect base.
There is a beautiful white sand beach less than 250 m from the front door, and two others within 3 miles. There are many easier coastal walks, with fantastic sea views across to the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. The quiet single lane roads around Stoer are excellent for cycling and provide spectacular mountain and sea views. Several tour operators offer boat tours out of Lochinver, pony trekking, and various other activities, such as Lama trekking. The area is popular for fishing. You can fish for Brown trout on any of the smaller lochs for free, and salmon fishing is available on Loch Assynt and the River Assynt. There is also excellent sea fishing. For the hard-core outdoor enthusiast, you can hike up Sulliven, one of Scotland's most remote summits, or any of the other hills to the north and south. The coast is superb for sea kayaking (kayaks can be rented locally), and the area is well known for rock climbing. Excellent longer cycling trips can be made along the coastal roads.

The house comfortably accommodates six adults and two children (or other similar arrangements), but could fit more at a squeeze. With assistance a wheelchair guest could manage the ground floor and use the sofa-bed, but the house is not strictly wheelchair friendly. All bedrooms are fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Pets are permitted, but smoking is not permitted in the house.

Location description from owner

The Caithness and Sutherland region

The NW Highlands of Scotland are known for the stark beauty of the landscapes and seascapes. Barren moorlands with distant peaks merge into windswept buffs and craggy sea cliffs on the coast. This is the most sparsely populated part of Europe, and it is this isolation that has preserved the natural beauty and nature of the region.

As such the area is popular with outdoor enthusiasts and travelers looking to enjoy the scenic beauty the area has to offer. There is excellent trout and salmon fishing, and sea fishing trips may be organised out of Lochinver and other smaller ports. There are numerous hiking and hill-walking opportunities. The coast is great for exploring by car or by bicycle (e.g. Drumbeg Loop) or sea kayak, with stunning views across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. The area also has beautiful white sand beaches (e.g. Achmelvich beach), for those in search of a bucket-and-spade holiday. The beach at Stoer Bay is less than 250 m from Stoer Villa's front door.

Lochinver is a village of around two hundred houses and the most northerly harbour on the west coast of Scotland. This made it an important stopping point for the fishing boats heading to the north Atlantic and the fishing industry remains an important source of income. Ullapool, about 20 miles away over the headland, is a marginally larger community and the point of departure for the ferries heading to the Outer Hebrides. Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, is about 3 hours by car.

There are a couple of small shops and restaurants (including a famous pie-shop), and a petrol station in Lochinver, which is 7.5 miles away. However, guests will probably want to stock up on supplies in Inverness before arriving.
