Location description from owner

The Swiss Alps region

The Valais region of Switzerland is truly the heart of the Alps - home to the country's highest peaks, extreme mountain terrain and renowned ski resorts such as Zermatt and Verbier. But a visit to the region does not have to mean just skiing, as even in Winter there is plenty to explore for the non-skier. Hiking, adventures, culture and gastronomy can all be enjoyed in stunning surroundings. 8000km of hiking trails meander across mountains and through forests under a sun which seems to shine forever. The Valais region enjoys 320 days sunshine on average per year and as a result miles and miles of vineyards can be found clinging to the mountain slopes in the Summer. The neighbouring village of Varen has earned itself a reputation as a leader in the production of organic wine. The Valais region also owns a region which UNESCO has designated as the first alpine heritage area in the world thanks to the Aletsch Glacier, the longest in Europe.Situated in the heart of the Valais region is the mountain resort of Leukerbad, the largest thermal resort in the Alps.

“Great little apartment. Very well equipped”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2013

Very nice, clean apartment. Plenty of storage space. Very well equipped kitchen with lots of utensils etc. with 2 very young children who are fussy eaters, we were self catering most days and we had everything we needed, down to peelers and colanders and can openers etc. views were lovely. town is a 5 min walk away. Really good value for money. I thought cleaning costs were a bit steep but then the bedding and linen etc were all clean and fresh so can't complain. We couldnt find any english tv channels but there might have been one or two - we were too lazy to ask reception. staff at reception were very helpful in getting us familiarised with the area. We had a great time visiting all the spas and going up the cable cars. The owner provided an extremely comprehensive guide for the apartment, the complex, the town and the general area which was highly useful, given that most places had only German and French leaflets etc. had a lovely time. Would definitely go back.

“Fantastic accommodation at a reasonable price”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2013

This accommodation was of an excellent standard and included everything you might need. The building was well maintained and conveniently located with a great view across the valley. The only very small point is that all the bedding and pillows were feather and one of our party has an allergy! Alternative bedding would have been useful but was less of an issue as it was summer....

“Excellent Apartment and Location”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2013

Luekerbad was a beautiful place and the apartment was superb, particularly so because of the price. The main room was well fitted out and was a good size with two couches that converted to single beds. The kitchen was well equipped including dishwasher. The view from the balcony was fantastic, being right opposite a narrow waterfall dropping some 50 meters. from towering snow-capped cliffs. The bedroom was huge with a good wardrobe and on-suite bathroom with shower. There was also another large bathroom with bath just off the entrance to the main lounge, so no problem with people sleeping in there. The parking was excellent and the apartment block was equipped with lifts.so no problem if you have difficulty with lifts. The concierge was very helpful and everyone seemed to speak English really well. My only issues were that it was a bit of a walk into the main town area with a fairly steep walk up and down both ways, although that was not a real problem to us it maybe an issue for people with limited mobility. Also I felt the the change of 139CH for the cleaning and bed line was a little on the expensive side, although taken with the rental, overall it was excellent value for money. One Issue we found that two out of three cable cars not running until high season at end of June.

“Lovely well equipped apartment”

Reviewed 27 Apr 2012

Lovely apartment situated very close to the cable car. We ate in every night as it was so well equipped and it was a pleasure to sit on the balcony and take in the lovely views. Fresh bread and croissants were availbable from reception every day which was also very useful. The beds were comfortable and the the rooms were clean. I was very surprised how lovely the apartment was for the money - it was very good value
