Description

Torr Beatha (Gaelic for "Full of Life") is an oasis of calm, a modern, spacious and easily managed house set in a tranquil and secluded garden in the village of Kincraig, 6 miles south of Aviemore, an area with boundless activities on offer.

[Kincraig is a hidden gem, a traditional Scottish village lying slightly off the main Kingussie - Aviemore road, in an idyllic setting close to Loch Insh.]

Fun for families, small groups and couples (and well-behaved dogs!)

The Aviemore and the Cairngorms region

The stunning Scottish Highlands are a spectacular backdrop to your holiday, and the area is a paradise for holiday makers of all ages and interests.

In the sporting line there are beautiful walks from easy low level to challenging high level, including Munro bagging for enthusiasts and mountaineering for the experienced. At nearby Loch Insh the watersports centre has sailing, canoeing, windsurfing (and lessons) and a lovely lochside restaurant. In season there is skiing at Aviemore, and there is a gliding centre near Kincraig. Golf courses abound, and you can do mountain biking and riding/trekking. On summer weekends there is often a Highland Games to visit and you may even be able to participate, although perhaps not in the caber-tossing!

For sightseeing there is the Cairngorm Mountain railway all year round, the Highland Folk Museum at Newtonmore (a must), and the ruined Ruthven Barracks at Kingussie.

Animal/bird lovers must see the Highland Wildlife park at Kincraig (new baby tigers), the RSPB reserves at Insh marshes and Boat of Garten (home to the magnificent ospreys). Guests have seen red squirrels and roe deer in the garden at Torr Beatha!

The Landmark Centre at Carrbridge is a favourite with the children and several local distilleries have guided tours.

Kincraig

The Speyside area is a useful take off point for wider sightseeing: the wonderful gardens at Inverewe in the north west are possibly in a day, as is Fort George in Inverness, and an overnight visit to Orkney from John O'Groats may be an option.

Inverness has a cinema and the Eden Court theatre - both quite accessible for an evening.
