The apartment is light, well-furnished and family friendly. Dual aspect windows and French Doors in the living and dining areas give this space literally 'wraparound scenery'. On the practical side, the price includes central heating in winter, air-conditioning in summer, secure parking, free wifi and a large sun terrace for barbecuing, dining or just relaxing outside.

We are located in the pretty village of Guejar Sierra - the heart of Granada's Sierra Nevada National Park – just a hop from the historic centre of Granada and the Alhambra Palace (A UNESCO World Heritage Site), as well as the Sierra Nevada ski resort. The village is a fabulous year round location for both summer and winter holidays. Seasonal activities include walking, horse-riding, mountain-biking, canoeing, climbing, canyoning, skiing and a calendar studded with local fiestas and cultural events.

There is outdoor dining in and around the plaza in summer, views from every corner, quaint shops and great choice of tapas bars and restaurants within strolling distance. An unspoilt location with a great local culinary tradition and a generous tapas culture - you will find prices here much cheaper than in the international ski resort, or the centre of Granada. Ski equipment can also be hired more cheaply in the village.

The apartment offers a relaxed, comfortable home-base from which to enjoy everything that this richly diverse region has to offer.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS -

The apartment has a comfortable ensuite master bedroom (with double bed), which opens onto the terrace. The second bedroom also has a double bed and the third is equipped with twin beds. For even larger groups there is also a quality double sofa-bed in the spacious living room. There is a well equipped kitchen, and two bathrooms (a large, family bathroom in addition to the en-suite).

The private terrace has ample space for dining and lounging amid the lovely mountain views. It is also equipped with a large garden table and chairs, daybed, loungers, and a BBQ. The covered section of the terrace has the games area with pool table.

FAMILY FRIENDLY -

Our twin room has its own TV and DVD player (in addition to the HDTV internet-connected Smart TV in the living room). We also provide an extensive DVD library, books and games, plus a small pool/snooker table for family fun and some equipment for smaller visitors (please tell us at the time of booking if you need our 'toddler pack' with cot, highchair seat adaptor, or an additional Z bed for a child in the master bedroom). The village itself is very child friendly - all of the restaurants welcome children and there is also a lovely new play park.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION -

We are 20 mins from Granada/Alhambra Palace and about 30 mins from the ski resort. The pretty coves of the Costa Tropical can be reached within 45 mins (with some great 'chiringuitas' where you can eat fresh fish right on the beach). The traditional white village of Guejar Sierra itself has great tapas bars, restaurants, local shops, pharmacy, bank and two lovely pools in summer. Our friendly keyholders are happy to give advice and can help organize chef services, tapas tours, hiking, biking, horse-riding, canoeing, treasure hunts for children and babysitting.

Guejar Sierra is also famous for its cherries - so just ask our keyholders if you wish to sample some local, organic, cherry jam!

SKI RESORT -

The apartment is ideally placed for skiing at Pradollano (Sol y Nieve Ski Resort) in the Sierra Nevada. The Sierra Nevada boasts the highest downhill runs in Europe as well as being the most southerly - so it often enjoys better snow than the Alps. The resort - with its superb services and installations was built for the Winter Olympics and offers its visitors a wide range of facilities and a ski terrain to suit skiers & boarders of all standards. There are 70km of ski runs, 45 pistes and 300 snow machines guaranteeing snow on the slopes. There is also night skiing by floodlight! As one of Europe's highest resorts it has a surprisingly long season and traditionally opens at the end of November running through to the end of April or even into the first week of May. The resort is so far south that the climate is superb for brushing up on your tan and on clear days there are views of Africa from the top!

AFFORDABILITY!

Competitive pricing based on number of occupants, NOT size of property (ie: smaller groups mean smaller overheads in terms of laundry/electricity etc - we onpass these savings to you in order to ensure that we always offer the best value for a property of this size and standard).

For larger groups of friends wishing to travel together - we can rent the apartment together with the small 1 bedroomed apartment next door, or with a choice of 2 bedroomed apartments in the same building.

GETTING TO US & GETTING AROUND -

We are happy to share advice on flights/routes/timings/car hire etc which we have found to be cheapest.

Guejar Sierra is great base for visiting Granada and has an excellent bus link so - depending on the type of holiday you envisage - car hire may not be necessary.

HDTV Smart TV with Chromecast. Please note - since access to English language channels in the area is no longer possible via Satellite, we are currently trialling access via internet. Clients who prefer languages other than English should also be able to access programmes via their own mobile devices through the Chromecast or HDMI cable).

For groups of more than 8 people, this apartment can be rented in conjunction with the 1 bedroom apartment of similar style and standard next door (which can sleep up to another 4 people with use of the double sofa-bed).

The Andalucia region

The apartment is situated in the pretty, Andalucian white village of Guejar Sierra. Guejar enjoys a stunning National Park location - right on the doorstep of Granada - one of the most beautiful, historic cities in the world. There are local shops and a great choice of excellent tapas bars and restaurants within strolling distance of the apartment. This is a great base both for activity holidays and visiting Granada.

Granada - almost unrivalled for beauty and architectural splendour, the entire city of Granada has been declared a national monument. It lies at the foot of Spain's mightiest massif, the Sierra Nevada. At the heart of the city, on its hill, rises the imposing Alhambra - one of the most beautiful buildings the world has known. Built under the Nasrid Dynasty in the 14th century, the Alhambra is a series of wonderful palaces, fountains and gardens.

On the opposing hill, facing the Alhambra is the old Moorish casbah called the Albaicin, a fascinating labyrinth of narrow streets and whitewashed houses with secluded inner gardens, known cármenes. The Plaza de San Nicolas, at the highest point of the Albaicin, is famous for its magnificent view of the Moorish palace.

Many of the city's beautiful squares, including Bib-Rambla & Campo del Principe were originally used for the Moorish lists - where noblemen jousted on their fine steeds. Later the Inquisition judged, and burned their victims at the stake in these same squares. To the north of Bib-Rambla is a tightly-meshed grid of alleyways and shops, decorated with Moorish arches - the Alcaicería. This is a remnant of the Great Medieval Bazaar to which merchants once came from all over Islam and Christendom. It was famous for its silk, for Caesar had given the Moors an exclusive license. In gratitude they called all such bazaars Al-Caicería, or 'Caesar's Place'

Guejar Sierra

The traditional white village of Guejar Sierra nestles in a spectacular National Park location, overlooking the sweep of the mighty Sierra Nevada mountains and dipping its toes into the beautiful Canales Reservoir. Getting around

We have an excellent local bus service which runs down to the historic centre of Granada and Alhambra Palace hourly. While there are great walks which begin literally from the doorstep - walkers or mountain bikers who wish to venture further afield to explore some of the famous trails reaching higher into the mountains (such as La Vereda de Estrella - the path of the star) - can take advantage of transport offered by a local company which will drop you off and pick you up at an agreed point. It is also possible to explore higher into the mountains by horseback. Victor will pick you up in the village, take you out for the day on his beautiful Andalucian horses - and provide a delicious picnic too (by prior arrangement).

Interaction with guest

Our lovely keyholder Rosie, lives locally, on a beautiful cherry farm above the village. On arrival she will meet you at the entrance to the village and guide you up to the apartment. If you have any questions about the property or things to do in the area that you have not already asked me during the booking process, then Rosie will be happy to help. You will have her number, as well as mine - so if you encounter any problems (hopefully not!) or need help during your holiday in Granada - you will always have a point of contact.
