Description from owner

**Latest Update Covid-19**

Scotland reopened to all UK travellers staying in self contained properties from Monday the 26th April.

Gleniffer is a large modernised self contained bungalow located in the centre of the beautiful Scottish Highland town of Grantown-on-Spey, centre for the latest BBC1 Autumn Watch TV programme and outdoor scenes for the highly acclaimed tv series 'Outlander'.

The house has a long private front drive with a large maintained front garden, side garden and smaller private back garden with a detached garage. It has a relaxing front living room, large kitchen, hallway, two double bedrooms and a third bedroom with two single beds.

There is FREE UNLIMITED Wi-Fi throughout the house.

The driveway can be used for private secure on-site parking.

The town shops and amenities are an easy 3-minute walk away. The surrounding area is well supplied with many excellent 9 and 18- hole golf courses. There are the stunning hills of the Cromdales, site of many skirmishes between Jacobites and 'red coat' troops, forming a spectacular backdrop to the Spey Valley. There are a number of out-door centers in town offering many different activities, the forest trails on the edge of town are fabulous for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Abernethy forest nearby is famous for wildlife and, over the summer months, Ospreys can be seen nesting in the woods at Boat of Garten.

The Cairngorm mountain range, famous for skiing, hill walking, and mountaineering is only 20 minutes away. Look out for reindeer on the surrounding hills and nature reserve. The river Spey winds its way down from the Caringorms passing on the edge of the town and onward to Speybay before entering the Moray firth and the North Sea. The river is home for salmon and trout with excellent fishing opportunities as well as canoeing, kayaking, swimming (perhaps summer only!) and lovely walking paths along its banks. The old 'Highland Railway Line' forms part of the path along the river bank.

The history of The Woods, The Railway and The River is majestically covered by local Grantown musical artist Hamish Napier in his excellent Strathspey Trilogy which can be viewed on his website and the old Grantown East Station is now a highly rated Highland Heritage & Cultural Centre and restaurant, well worth a visit.

There are many famous Malt Whisky Distilleries in the Spey Valley offering guided tours and a 'tipple' of pure malt and Grantown also boasts its own 'Castle Grant' ancient home of the Grant family as well as numerous hostelries where a warm Highland welcome awaits.

The Highland capital, Inverness, is just a short drive away and you may be able to spot 'Nessie' if you drive along the Lochside road or take a boat out onto the Loch....or maybe the children would have a better chance of catching a tartan Pokémon?

The beautiful Moray Firth Coastline is also only a short drive away and the towns of Nairn, (Macbeth's Cawdor Castle), Findhorn, Burghead and the fishing ports at Buckie and Lossiemouth are well worth a visit.

The Aviemore Centre is but a short drive and hosts a cinema showing the latest films. Grantownonline has further information on 'what's on' and well worth a visit.

In August 2016, Gleniffer underwent extensive renovations and modernization with new central heating, electrics, lighting, flooring, kitchen, extension, family shower and bathroom, and new on-suite bedroom and we continue to improve our facilities to ensure that you, our guests, have a comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing time in the Scottish Highlands .

“Family week in Grantown”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2020

Just spent a week in this lovely bungalow in Grantown on spey the accommodation had everything we needed and was perfectly situated for touring the area and going to the local attractions mountain biking quads and walking all close by The only thing that spoiled our stay were the beds which need to be replaced

Owner's reply: Hi Brian, Many thanks for your positive feedback. The mattresses are due to be replaced this year and we will now expedite this. Kind regards, Eve

“September break”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2020

Good all round cottage. Plenty of space. Clean tidy and well equipped. The toilets and shower room were exceptionally clean. Kitchen was spacious with all necessary utensils. There was plenty of parking. This was an ideal location for visiting the area. The only negatives were that the heating and water was controlled remotely and felt there was time when it would have been good to boost on cooler afternoons / evenings. Wi-fi was temperamental at time’s and could be poor.

“Very comfortable, certainly would return again to this accommodation.”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2018

Excellent location, really quick and easy to get to the shops etc. The house was warm and inviting with a good array of bedrooms. The twin bedroom would be better suited to children as the beds were quite narrow and short. Excellent bathrooms with good showers, a non slip shower mat in the base of the showers would have been good as it got quite slippery. It was very quick to feel at home in this house. Plenty off road parking which was great. Plenty to do / visit in the area - we ran out of time to get round everything.

Owner's reply: Hi. Thank you for your positive and helpful comments. I'm glad you had a good time up in the Scottish Highlands. The shower trays are designed to be non slip and we do have mats outside the showers to prevent slipping on the bath/shower room floor but we will review the shower trays following your comments, and the single beds, to see where we can make changes to ensure Gleniffer continues to be a desirable holiday home for all our guests. Kind regards and thanks again for staying at Gleniffer. Eve.
