From the owner

The accommodation comprises 3 adjacent holiday cottages which can accommodate up to 10 in total (2-4 in each). In addition, two of the cottages (Loft and Barn) have an interconnecting door. It works well for groups coming to join in the excellent New Year celebrations in this Highland village or for walking groups. We are popular with mountaineering groups as there is easy access to the mountains of the Cairngorms, Monadhliath and also Creag Meagaidh. We also have an efficient drying room for wet walking gear.

The main thing our guests comment on is the views of the Cairngorm mountains, which can be seen from the cottages and garden. We are located above the village so these can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. In the foreground are sheep and lambs, as we are in a crofting area, together with lapwings, curlews, oyster catchers and hares. But also our guests also find the cottages well equipped, warm and comfortable. Two of the cottages were rated at 3* from 2013- 2017 by Wyndham Vacation rentals and previously by Visit Scotland.

The majority of our guests come to walk or bike, which can be done from the door. The Newtonmore wildcat trail is only 200m from the house. And there is an unlimited number of local walks and rides. Other local activities include golf, fishing, gliding, skiing and horse riding.

Further details

These cottages work well for a mixed group of couples and singles; some of the sleeping is in doubles beds so we can only accommodate 8 singles. In addition to the bedrooms, 2 of the cottages have extra sleeping facilities in the living area while Loft cottage has a large family bedroom. Furniture can be rearranged for groups to eat together. Many of the local restaurants can accommodate groups also and there are many local group activities available such as walking, cycling and other activities, visiting the Highland Wildlife Park or Highland Folk Museum, or just relaxing and enjoying the local scenery.

Interaction with guest

We live on site and will generally be around the evening you arrive to greet you. The level of interaction is up to you! Most guests prefer their own space so we try not to impose ourselves, but we are on hand to answer any queries (or if we are away ourselves we provide phone and email contact numbers). This week I have provided information on local health support and local music sessions for instance! There are 3 cottages onsite so there is also the opportunity to chat with other holiday makers.
