The Wales region

Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park is an exceptional diverse region to holiday in. This isolated corner of the Uk is most renowned for its beautiful wide sandy beaches, hidden rocky coves and isolated islands. A place to relax in unspoilt and protected natural scenery, or adventure in sea, surf, sky or cliff sport activities.

Not far from the sand and sea you can explore the historic architecture of numerous ancient castles, palaces and cathedrals. Quaint picturesque coastal and inland villages pepper the landscape, with their quirky little shops pubs and restaurants.

This corner of Wales has become a hideaway for many resident artists and crafts people, there works can be found in the many galleries and open studios that are hidden in the villages and towns.

Freshwater East

Freshwater East is a small village with houses and flats perched on cliff-tops and nestled in the dunes of a sandy south facing bay. The beach is framed by large sand dunes and cliffs, and looks out to distant views of Cornwall, Devon and Lundy. Their is a nature reserve that sits between the flat and the beach, this beautiful protected area contains many rare and beautiful fauna and flora, and wild animals, wooded copses with springs and wells, and wind swept trees mixed with marram grass comes right down to the golden and white sand of the bay. The sea water has always received the green flag award for clean bathing standards, and summer swimming and playing in the waves is a must for even the most temperature sensitive visitor, and even in the winter by some of the more hardened locals. The low tide rock-pools and sand-pools at the base of the cliffs are an endless source of entertainment. Dinghies, yachts, fishing boats, jet skies, canoes and a small fleet of crab/lobster boats use the busy little slip way at one end of the beach.

There is a good selection of pubs and restaurants within the village and its immediate neighbours, the 2 in the village are easily within walking distance. There are several busses that pass by the door some of which do a coastal loop accessing the many other beaches and coves along the route.

Ideally situated for a coast path walker, the main coastal footpath goes right across the beach, giving the easiest of access to the path in both directions. With a bit of planning the path could be used in conjunction with the coastal cruiser bus service to pick you up at the end of your days walking, and drop you of again the following day, to start where you finished the day before.

“Lovely relaxing break in a fantastic apartment.”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2016

The apartment is represented well in the photographs. Very clean, with spacious lounge and sleeping areas, a small kitchen and w/c & shower room. There is parking space close to the apartment, a good communal lawn which is ideal for a picnic, and a view of the ocean and Lundy Island. Freshwater East is a quiet and relaxing location for a holiday, situated in a sleepy village, but just a short drove into Pembroke, Tenby or Saundersfoot. There are plenty of nearby attractions from medieval castles to theme parks. Just a short walk down from the apartment is Freshwater East beach, which is a spacious sandy beach in a picturesque location, you really need to see it to appreciate it. It is a bit of a steep trek back up to the apartment, but there is parking available close to the beach. There is not much in the way of local amenities, but there is a small shop located in The Longhouse Club, which is near the beach, a petrol station with a Spar a short drive away, an Asda at Pembroke Dock and a great little pub in the village called, The Freshwater Inn. Anthony, who owns the apartment is very helpful and friendly, he also makes very refreshing cider. As he lives local to the apartment, he is always on hand for any problems that may arise or to assist with any questions; although I never had occasion to use tho service, it is nice to know that he is available. I can heartily recommend a stay at 10 Devon Court, and hope to visit again in the future.

“Great value chalet in a fabulous location”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2016

Great little chalet, in a beautiful village, very close to a stunning beach. The lounge and bedrooms are roomy and had everything you'd need. The bathroom and kitchen were very small and basic but met our needs as a base to travel the area. The owner, Anthony, was very welcoming and friendly, living next door he is on hand if you have any issues or need anything. Great value for money as it is a very expensive area.

“Fantastic place to stay views were breath taking over fresh water east.”

“A well-equipped, comfortable apartment in a beautiful location.”

We had a lovely stay at this apartment. It was very comfortable and the owner was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area. The village is quiet but there are plenty of lovely places to eat nearby. The best thing about Freshwater East is the amazing beach which was uncrowded even in high season. I thoroughly recommend a stay at Devon Court.

“Great property, great location, great holiday!”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2013

The property itself was a joy to stay in, the ample living/dining room providing an excellent environment for evening meals and activities with friends against a backdrop of stunning sea views. The surrounding Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline was simply wonderful as were our hosts who with typical Welsh hospitality made every effort to ensure our stay was pleasant, provided useful local knowledge of places to visit and even supplied a complementary bottle of wine! We are thoroughly looking forward to staying again next year.
