Welcome to our small detached, pretty and quirky, self-catering cottage with private garden. Dogs are welcomed and free. It is situated in a beautiful rural location by Loch Ness and the Falls of Foyers. Ideal for walking locally (long walks start from the door) or perfect as a base to explore the Highlands. Excellent kayaking and cycling area. Swimming in the Loch for the hardy or wetsuit clad is a perfect way to unwind after the days excursions. Foyers benefits from having a village pub, cafes and hotels, all within walking distance of the cottage.
For fans of the historical OUTLANDER drama series, the Cottage is not to be missed. The character Jamie Fraser is based on the real James Fraser, 9th of Foyers, who lived at Foyers Mansion House. The Mansion is no longer here, but the cottage is situated within the site where it stood. Escaping from the battle of Culloden, Jamie was forced to hide for 7 years in Dun Bonnets Cave, found about a mile from the cottage. Further information for this is provided for our guests staying at the cottage.
The cottage is situated in a unique, beautiful and peaceful spot surrounded by trees but with a breathtaking view from the garden of the River Foyers and Gorge. Being set away from roads, it is a perfect location to truly forget about the car and the clock and enjoy the natural area, climbing the hills or relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.
Highly recommend spending an evening stargazing from the garden on clear nights. Truly spectacular! Deer, red squirrels, pine martens, badgers, bats, owls, our own 'herd' of pheasants and a variety of small birds are all frequent visitors to the garden. And on occasion a herd of wild goats! Advise having a camera ready at all times.
Inverness is approximately 30 miles away for those who wish to explore the Capital City of The Highlands. There are a huge selection of excellent restaurants, cafes and shops to be found. An evening walk by Ness Bank and Islands is not to be missed.
The cottage is open plan and facilities comprise of: Entrance lobby with log burner* and seat. Fitted kitchen with dining table and chairs, electric oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, Delonghi Dolce Gusto pod coffee machine, electric food steamer. Bedroom area with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus small dressing table with mirror. Bed linen and towels are supplied. Small ensuite bathroom with large shower, toilet and basin. Lounge area to left of bedroom has 2 seater sofa, TV and BluRay player, good selection of DVDs, log burner*, coffee table, games and books. Wifi available. Fully fenced pet friendly garden. Garden table and chairs, sun loungers and barbecue.
*Woodburning stoves are in addition to electric heating. Please supply own logs, kindling & firelighters.
Ample parking is provided with plenty of room for anyone wanting to bring a boat and trailer. Public slips can be found at Fort Augustus and Dores. Easy access for canoes and kayaks via the river, which is just a minutes walk away or launch directly onto the loch. Fishing can also be found minutes from the let.
Our cosy cottage is ideal for a couple or single person seeking a very reasonably priced holiday in the highlands that is not lacking in comfort and facilities. The price is fixed all year (excluding Christmas and New Year) and includes electric costs. A very warm, clean and cosy wee holiday stay. Additional people may stay by pitching a tent in the garden for an extra cost pw per person.
This is a truly beautiful area to stay in all seasons. Whether you prefer hot summer days sunbathing by the Loch; long autumnal walks enjoying the stunning change of colour - spectacular beside the gorge; crisp winter days with heavy frosts and snow clad mountains; or the very long days of spring full of birdsong.

Lovely wee house.Very well equipped and extremely clean Nice setting with walks close by. We visited the Craigdarroch Inn for a meal and were disappointed.
“Fantastic Relaxation Break”
This was a 2 night stopover as we headed further South. We had no plans and we enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the cottage. The bed is so comfy and I loved the quirkiness of it with the open plan rooms. We took a walk to Craigdarroch Inn Hotel with our dog which was only approx 20 minute walk. It's a great location to explore the area but also just to chill. We did not have time to use the fire pit but I can imagine it would be great in the summer to sit outside with it lit chilling with some beers!
Lovely wee cottage that we were sad to leave. Great location for exploring the area and loved returning to unwind by the cosy woodburner. Lovely hosts who provided great details of walks. We will definitely be recommending to friends and family.....just not too many....we don't want to be arguing with them for dates to stay!!

We booked this cottage on location and strength of reviews although it looked very small and we took the reviews with a pinch of salt. We were wrong! While it IS small (and doesn't pretend otherwise) it is cute and cosy with everything you need - other reviews have been wholly accurate. This side of the loch is much quieter and less touristy than the North/West side and the walking, chilling and wildlife spotting opportunities are excellent. It's also within reach of Speyside to the east and the west coast. Also, the owner did not lie - Pine Martens and (we were out but we trust them) stags visit the garden. Negatives? It rained every day but that's a risk in the highlands - we were unlucky. Only other negative is a lack of feeding/watering holes in Foyers: two nice cafes (esp Cameron's) and one pub that, while nice enough, doesn't offer "treat" dining - you need a car for that. Would we recommend the property? Absolutely!
