From the owner

Welcome to our quirky detached self-catering cottage, nestled in a peaceful woodland setting adjacent to a dramatic gorge and river - a beautiful viewpoint has a table and seating for use at any time. Dogs are more than welcome at no extra charge ... with miles of hill and forest walks available straight from the door, it's their holiday too!!!. Foyers village is found in a rural location in the Highlands, on the quiet southern banks of world famous Loch Ness. The river Foyers tumbles down from the Upper Falls of Foyers and winds it's way through the stunning tree lined gorge to join the loch. The area is ideal for walking with long walks starting from the door. We are midway along the South Loch Ness Trail, a relatively new 28 mile waymarked route, which stretches from Loch Tarff (a few miles from Fort Augustus) to the Torbreck woods on the outskirts of Inverness (maps are provided in the cottage or can be found online). Excellent kayaking and cycling area, and swimming in Loch Ness (very recently officially voted the cleanest fresh water wild swimming location in the UK!!). The cottage is also the perfect base to go farther afield and explore the diverse and stunning Highlands and Islands, packed with countless Glens, Castles, pristine beaches, waterfalls, lochs and ancient forests.

The cottage is in a unique, beautiful and peaceful spot surrounded by trees, with a breathtaking view from the garden of the River Foyers, the old masonry bridge and the dramatic Gorge - a lovely spot to enjoy a morning coffee in dappled sunshine under the leafy canopy of the majestic beech trees or an afternoon glass of wine or Scottish 'water'! Being set away from roads, it is a perfect location to truly forget about the car and the clock and enjoy the natural area, climbing the hills or relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.

Highly recommend spending an evening stargazing from the garden on clear nights. Truly spectacular! Deer, red squirrels, pine martens, badgers, bats, owls, our own 'herd' of pheasants and a variety of small birds are all frequent visitors to the garden - and on occasion a herd of wild goats! Advise having a camera ready at all times.

Foyers village benefits from having a local Inn, cafes and hotels (catering to non residents), all within walking distance of the cottage. Inverness is approximately 25 miles away for those who wish to explore the Capital City of the Highlands and has a huge selection of excellent restaurants, cafes and shops. Ness Bank and Islands walks are not to be missed.

The cottage has an open plan design and facilities comprise of: Entrance lobby with log burner* and seat. Fitted kitchen with dining table and chairs, electric fan oven with top grill, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, combined washing machine/dryer, microwave, toaster, Delonghi Dolce Gusto pod coffee machine, electric food steamer. A good supply of crockery, cutlery, pans and utensils. Bedroom area with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, dressing table with mirror. Hairdryer. Bed linen and towels supplied. Ensuite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. Snug to left of bedroom has 2 seater sofa, Samsung 4K Smart TV and Sony BluRay player, good selection of DVDs (please ask for a supply), log burner*, coffee table. Free Wifi available. Fully fenced pet friendly garden. Garden table and chairs, wooden sun loungers, barbecue and fire pit.

*Woodburning stoves are in addition to electric heating. We have large bags of logs and kindling available for purchase on arrival.

Ample parking is provided with plenty of room for anyone wanting to bring a boat and trailer. Public slips can be found at Fort Augustus and Dores. Easy access for canoes and kayaks via the river, just a few minutes walk away, or launch directly onto the loch. Fishing can also be found minutes from the let.

Our cosy cottage is ideal for a couple or single person seeking a holiday in the Highlands that is not lacking in comfort and facilities. The competitive price is fixed all year (excluding Christmas and New Year) and includes electric costs. A warm, clean and cosy wee holiday stay. Additional people may stay by pitching a tent in the garden for an extra cost pw per person.

This is a truly beautiful area in all seasons. Whether you prefer hot summer days sunbathing by the Loch; long autumnal walks enjoying the stunning change of colour - spectacular beside the gorge; crisp winter days with heavy frosts and snow clad mountains; or the very long days of spring full of birdsong.

We look forward to welcoming you.
