Description

This LUXURY COTTAGE sleeps 4 and is located on Yorkshire Coast and provides luxury accommodation , located just outside the little seaside town of Filey close to Scarborough. It is within walking distance of Filey's 7 miles of golden sands..making it a destination year after year for seaside loving families.Great location to explore the Yorkshire coast , Bempton Bird Santuary and Dalby Forest.

Mill Farm is surrounded on 3 sides by fields yet is on the boundary of Filey for easy access to the town and its beach.

The cottage was developed from the 'Old Hay Barn' and still retains many of its original features including vaulted beamed ceilings upstairs.

On the other side of the road stands the remains of Muston Windmill , which was a working windmill for the surrounding area many years ago; and now the field it stands houses the Beach Donkeys in the summer months.

There is a little patio area out to the front of the cottage, accessed from a door off the lounge area

On the other side of the road stands the remains of Muston Windmill , which was a working windmill for the surrounding area many years ago; and now the field it stands houses the Beach Donkeys in the summer months.

There is a little patio area out to the front of the cottage, accessed from a door off the lounge area which has an outside table for 'al fresco' dining and there is a grassed area to the side of cottage for the use of this cottage only with another table and chairs.Lovely for children to play on.There is also plenty of parking for up to two cars per cottage and parking is next to the cottage so no long distances to walk to the cottage. The parking proves popular in summer as parking in the centre of Filey can be hard to find in summer and being able to pull up outside the cottage after a long day is a great bonus.

The cottage has the benfit of free wi-fi for residents at no extra charge.(this service is subject to availability and should not be relied upon)

Filey View Cottage is a 2 bedroomed cottage and is able to sleep 4 people easily. There a large double bedroom and one twin bedded room.

The double room is large and has a king size bed with flat screen tv and open vaulted ceilings together with chairs and plenty of lighting.

The twin room has two full size single beds and has vaulted ceilings and flat screen TVs.

Both bedrooms have black out blinds which help reduce the light levels in the summer months.

There is a luxury bathroom with a bath and shower over.

The ground floor is open plan with a lounge together with kitchen and dining area. The entrance also has a vestibule, with a boot area, as well as a downstairs toilet. The lounge has a large flat screen TV , two double sofas and a glass doors out to a seating area.

The cottage has full central heating and keeps very warm.

ALL BED LINEN IS PROVIDED TOWELS ARE NOT PROVIDED

A free welcome pack of wines and chocolates is waiting for you on arrival.

There are plenty of shops in Filey town , including a Tesco store; and there are lots of places to eat and drink either within walking distance or by car.

If you like cycling there are plenty of local routes using the national cycle network , or why not have a cycle along Filey's golden sands from one end to the other , (always check tide times).

There are plenty of marked walks and there is a nice route to Scarborough along the cliffs and you can get the bus or train back.

For children there are plenty of activities in summer in Filey , the most popular being a day on the beach , which is a short walk from Buttercup cottage - 20 mins approx. The beach has beach donkeys in summer for children to ride and there is a nice park in the centre of Filey with swings and slides etc.The park also has a boating lake with pedalos.

About 40 mins away is Flamingoland , which is a large amusment park and zoo with plenty of scary rides..open from easter to autumn.

Scarborough which is Fileys big sister town has plenty more attraction including a cinema , theatre , swimming pool , bowling , sealife centre and plenty more shops and restaurants.Scarborough is apporx 8 miles away. There are buses and trains which go from Filey to Scarborough. The train station is about 10 mins walk from Buttercup cottage.

The city of York is only one hour away by car , or train , and has loads of history and things to do , including the national railway musemn , which at present is free to enter. There is also a large ferris wheel , similar but smaller than the London Eye.

Hull is also only an hour away by car or train and provides plenty of shopping and musemns most of which are free to access.

“Lovely cosy & clean/modern cottage with great views”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2016

Loved this time away, I love to walk so walked to Filey most days and then along the coast. There are many other beaches/ towns locally via car to visit with great walks. York about 50 mins away so a great place to stay and get rest and see the area. Filey has everything you need, so you could just stay there. The owners were easy to email & always got a quick response, and although I didn't see them on my break I knew where they were if I needed assistance. Will return I think.

We are glad that you enjoyed your break away and enjoyed your stay.

“High standard accommodation in a good location”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2012

A quiet location within 15 minutes walking distance of Filey and its amenities The accommodation is of a high standard and a lot of thought and effort has been given by the owner to furnishings and decor We stayed in the 2 bed property there is also a 3 bed property adjacent Plenty of off road parking We went with friends in November and chose the location as it is on the doorstep of the Cleveland Way so great for walkers
