“The perfect getaway”

Reviewed 14 Dec 2015

What a wonderful weekend (even in the wind and the rain!) The granary is exactly as described, quirky and romantic. Cosy, with stunning views, it is filled with trinkets from the owners travels and shows the love poured into this place. It was the perfect place for a much needed break away and we will be returning!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for the Granary. We are delighted you had such a good time and look forward to welcoming you back one day.

“A Jolly and Fun Retreat”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2015

Stayed here for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. Lots of little trinkets around the place were fun to explore and the tree house style bedroom is a great idea! Were lucky enough to have nice enough weather for a lovely stroll over to the River Wye and take in the views. After a nice long walk the spa bath was a real unexpected treat to come back to as well! Mandy and David were great hosts and made us feel more than welcome. Would definitely go back again.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

“A perfect little cottage for a relaxing weekend.”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2015

The Granary is the perfect cottage for a peaceful and quiet break. Mandy and David are very welcoming and willing to help with all needs including local walks and pubs. The cottage is beautiful and has great views of the surrounding countryside. Very comfortable to rest in and a fantastic decking to sit and relax and take in the views. This was exactly what we were looking for in our weekend away and we would highly recommend to anyone looking to escape a busy lifestyle.

Thank you for giving the Granary such a positive review. We are really pleased the weekend break was what you needed and hope you both feel refreshed. Please come and see us again one day.

“Idylic setting with fab views from the veranda”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2015

A quirky little cottage but very homely, the stairs took a bit of getting used to but that is part of its charm. There was a yummy meal waiting for us on arrival which you can pre book ideal if you have travelled some distance. I would recommend taking some basic food provisions with you such as bread, tea milk etc as the shops are a drive away. There are fab walks within easy reach and a lovely pub nearby too. If you are a couple and want a get away from it all break and love walking then this is definitely the place to come, our dog Charlie loved it too and Mandy and David were very welcoming.

Thank you for your kind words. We're glad you had a good time. Just a reminder to any future guests, we do offer a welcome pack of all the basic provisions, if you request it, so that you don't have to go to the shops straight away. You just let us have your list before you arrive and we do the rest.

“The Forest of Dean's best kept secret”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2015

I picked this cottage for my partner and I based on previous reviews. But my goodness, they didn't do it justice. This cottage is a little piece of heaven in the middle of the forest. Access is along a very long driveway and once there, you could be anywhere in the world. The driveway suddenly turns into a quaint courtyard, containing the owner's house and 2 further cottages. The Granary is located at the far end of the courtyard, and the cute wooden front door is accessed up some traditional stone steps. Once inside the cottage, you are greeted with a whole other world. It is oozing character, from the real wood floor to the old beams. The style incorporates a mix of Moroccan fabrics, souvenirs from the owners' travels and traditional furniture, which all add to the charm. The bedroom is accessed up a delightful little ladder into a romantic loft space, and features a skylight to gaze at the stars from bed! Facilities - a large flatscreen TV with an abundance of Freeview channels, excellent fast wifi, a fully functional kitchen with utensils, fresh chicken eggs in the morning courtesy of the resident chickens, books galore to get stuck into, an amazing 'spa' bath, ample parking, a barbeque, and one of the loveliest and largest 'balconies' I have ever seen! Views from the balcony are stunning - a huge valley of forest and fields of frolicking lambs (and a pony or two around the side!). Whilst the Granary is next to the owner's house and the second cottage, it is completely private as the balcony and every view is towards the back. Mandy and David are the most perfect hosts. They will make you feel extremely welcome whilst giving you the peace and quiet you want from a get-away. They also supply a wealth of information inside the cottage on local attractions and places to eat (as well as cooking you home made dinner on request!). To conclude, this really is the most romantic and peaceful setting me and my partner have stayed at to date. I guarantee that you will grow quite attached to this magical little cottage and will never want to leave. Thank you so much Mandy and David for giving me and my partner a few cherished days together. We cannot wait to return!

What a truly wonderful review with such positive comments. We are delighted you found your stay in the Granary such a lovely experience and look forward to welcoming you back one day.

“perfect getaway”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2014

Me and my partner visited for the weekend. The Granary is simply unique. We loved the mezzanine, spa bath and skylights. It was really warm and cosy for the winter nights. The windows all look out over beautiful countryside and is well positioned to be close to the owners but feel secluded and private too. The option of dinner (cooked by owner Mandy) and ready and waiting to heat up upon arrival was delicious and such a great service after a long journey! It was a little hard to find on a dark night but that was all part of the fun! We will definitely be returning.

Thank you so much for writing such a positive review. We are very pleased you enjoyed staying at the Granary and also that you liked your meal. We look forward to welcoming you back again one day.

“Cosy and perfectly located.”

A wonderful few days stay in this fantastic cottage. It's super cosy, quaint and spotlessly clean. Perfectly located in the Forest of Dean and close to some fabulous walks in nearby villages just a short drive away. Beautiful view across the forest from the balcony and some great wildlife too! All in all a fantastic trip, highly recommend this place!!

Thank you so much for your positive comments. We are very pleased you had such a good time, and that you found the local area so interesting.

It was great to have you stay in the Granary and we are thrilled you had such a good time. Please come and see us again one day.

“Best holiday we've ever had!”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Granary after spotting it on trip advisor whilst looking for somewhere in the Forest of Dean and I am so happy we stayed here. I was amazed by how beautiful the surroundings where on the drive up to the Granary and we fell in love with the Granary itself, David welcomed us upon our arrival and both him and Mandy were there whenever we needed them, whether it was for tomato sauce for our breakfasts as we forgot ours or a pub recommendation! I cannot fault our stay at the Granary, we will definitely return at some point in the future! :)

Thank you so much for your positive review. We are very happy that you had such a good time and would love to welcome you back in the future.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time away for his birthday weekend. The cottage is really nicely done, we loved the bed area and the balcony and the spa bath is a real treat after a long day. The hosts were wonderful, we ordered dinner for when we got there which was delicious and they provided us with lots of information about nice pubs and places to visit. We will be returning!

Thank you so much for your positive comments. We are very pleased you had such a good time. We would love to see you here again in the future.
