Down a quiet, single track lane, in a tranquil country setting with no through traffic, the Music Room cottage provides an excellent gateway to discover the many delights of the Isle of Purbeck & Dorset. The SW Coastal and Jurassic Coastline Paths are a short distance away on foot for excellent walking and spectacular views of the coastline, including the recently renovated Durlston Country Park & Nature Reserve near Swanage. There is a pair of binoculars and bird book provided for use in the cottage to help identify the varied bird and wild life in the surrounding grounds.

For children there are many local attractions, including the Purbeck Steam Railway to Swanage; Putlake Adventure Farm; model villages at Corfe/Wimborne; the Bovington Tank Museum; Monkey World; Splash Down/Bowling at Tower Park; the unique Rex Cinema at Wareham; and fossil hunting on the seashore & Etches Fossil Collection at Kimmeridge. Sea & course fishing, water sports and stables are within easy reach, as are three golf courses. Visit the National Trust properties at Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy or take a boat to Brownsea Island. Visit Lulworth Castle and Cove, Durdle Door, Athelhampton House, or Thomas Hardy's Cottage and Max Gate.

The two bedroomed, thatched cottage was used by its famous operatic owners in the 1920s as a retreat from London for artists, musicians and dancers. The large, external patio with its sunny aspect and table, chairs and bench, is perfect for sitting, drinking and eating outside.

Please note the cottage has a spiral staircase to access the upstairs master double bedroom, which might be difficult for elderly or less mobile Guests. Children & dogs should be supervised by an adult when using the spiral staircase.

The second bedroom (2 single beds) is on the ground floor for those with limited mobility. The rest of the cottage internally is all on the same level, with no stairs.

The property has a number of Public Footpaths and Bridleways very close by. Walk over the fields to Corfe Castle village, or over the hill to the beaches of Studland Bay and Swanage, or up on to the Jurassic coastal path.

The cottage has the benefit of a wood burning stove, inset in a local stone inglenook, within a double height, vaulted sitting room. If you wish to use the log burner (it only takes wood) a starter log basket can be pre-ordered for £39 (including extra cleaning costs). The cottage enjoys modern comforts of SkyQ (including Sky Sport, Netflix & Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer), DVD and Broadband WiFi.

The Music Room Cottage provides a quiet, rural location, surrounded by country side, wildlife and close to the sea and beaches. It is centrally placed for exploring the lovely Isle of Purbeck, with its lovely villages and Jurassic Heritage coastline.

The cottage will be prepared for after 5pm on the day of your arrival, to allow for Changeovers, with any special, pre-ordered extra requirements: children's high chair or cot, log baskets for log burner, extra linen, dogs, etc. Keys will be placed in a secure key safe by entrance. Allocated parking for Music Room - One car parked immediately adjacent for easy unloading/loading of holiday luggage/children IMPORTANT - Master Bedroom (double bed) is accessed via a spiral staircase, which may be difficult for some less agile to negotiate. Please let us know when confirming booking details for your party if you would prefer to have the 2 single beds made up in the ground floor bedroom.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Paul & Sarah (the owner) a message.

If Paul & Sarah (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
