Nestled within the idyllic surrounding parkland of the Old Hall at Congham, Grooms Cottage is a unique single storey property converted from the former groom's quarters of a Victorian country estate. Featuring beautiful country styling, this hideaway evokes a real country-house experience, complete with trout fishing lake and rowing boat.
The majority of the large house was burnt down in 1939 but the site still retains servants quarters let on a long term rental, and the ancillary buildings of stables, yard and gamekeepers house. Children can enjoy adventures in the parkland and row the little boat on the lake, (at own risk). Fishing rods, life jackets, and lots of outside games are provided. The detached accommodation is furnished in a comfortable, quintessentially English country house style, with a large open fire, an AGA and antique furniture. Four bedrooms each offer an accompanying own bathroom. The property is situated well away from roads with extensive grounds, including the fishing lake and parkland. This is an extraordinary place to stay at any time of the year, with many of our guests returning again and again. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a mere 20-minute drive from the coast, while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of stunning rural location. The parkland is home to a plethora of wildlife including deer, foxes, barn owls and birds. If the event of inclement weather, there is plenty to do in the locality, plus Sandringham House close by.
Located a short walk away, neighbouring The Coach House sleeps 6. For larger groups, these cottages can be booked together: The Coach House (C).
