Getting around

To see the sights you need a car though there are plenty of other ways of transportation to see this Royal Forest. Bicycles are fun, canoeing the river is awesome, riding (horse or llama) through the forest blends in with the wildlife and walking is terrific! The bus comes to the bottom of the lane once a week and goes 5 miles to town!

Interaction with guest

Guests have 24 hour access by a safe lock key at the side of the cottage. The code is given before your arrival. We are usually there at some point if guests require local knowledge which is invaluable sometimes if you wish to book the best tables for dinner, order the best takeaways: order the quickest, most reliable and cheapest taxi service and to know the best places to see the wildlife.

“Excellent, relaxing weekend”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2018

Stayed here for a long weekend over new year and what a treat we had! Complete with log fire, spacious bedrooms and quiet location, the cottage is well equipped for a perfect relaxing weekend! The cottage is in the ideal location for both local walks as well as a base for driving to various places in and around the forest. Carol, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming, providing excellent local knowledge and a delicious cake on arrival! Myself, my partner and cheeky cocker spaniel had a wonderful weekend and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Owner's reply: Thank you . It's always heart warming to hear you really enjoyed yourselves. The forest is so ancient and interesting, there's a hidden gem round every corner - as long as you don't get lost! x

“Badgers End cottage”

Reviewed 13 Nov 2017

Badgers end was a beautiful homely cottage, set in a stunning location. Was welcomed by a very tasty cake and note (wishing my sister a happy birthday, as it was surprise weekend away for her 30th) Carol the owner was absolutely lovely and was a pleasure meeting her, definitely somewhere we would all want to go again. It was everything and more than what I was expecting. A fantastic place to escape to, to enjoy the forest and surrounding. The only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer.

Owner's reply: Thank you Natalie, it was a real pleasure to host you all. I'm glad you had a great time and look forward to seeing you again. You must see the white stag! Have a lovely Christmas Kind regards Carol

Had a relaxing break at the cottage. A pretty cottage in a lovely area. Everything you need is supplied and the owners are friendly and welcoming, with great ideas of places that are worth visiting. Bryan the dog had endless fun in the fields just down the lane. We hope to return one day soon.

Owner's reply: Thank you both for your kind comments in our visitors book. I hope the blustery weather and spells of bright sunshine left you feeling full of the Forests natural wonder. We look forward to welcoming you back, Bryan's treats will be waiting!

“Bliss at Badger's End”

Reviewed 18 May 2017

Another lovely stay at Badger's End Cottage, nothing is too much trouble for the owners who are extremely accommodating. The cottage is beautifully kept and in a great location for exploring the Forest of Dean and surrounding area. We will be back for our third stay.

Owner's reply: Thank you all. After you have visited us I always feel like getting on my bike cycling for miles (coming back with the rosy glow!), then walking into the Forest to view the wildlife and finally having a Forest adventure. You are definitely inspirational and I look forward to welcoming you back.

“We love the Forest of Dean!”

Lovely cottage, really comfortable beds, everything we needed to make our holiday complete. Carol and Tony were perfect hosts, not too intrusive but there if they were needed. Lots of wild life including a lovely pair of bull finches and wild boar with her babies. Would definitely recommend this place

“Awesome”

Fantastic cottage in great location. Carol was a superb host and nothing was too much trouble. Carol's hospitality went the extra mile when she offered to collect us from a local pub!!!! Will not hesitate to book here again if visiting the area.

“Cosy cottage in good location”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2015

The bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and furnished to a high standard. Location was excellent. The cottage was at the end of a (very narrow) lane, so no through traffic. Table and chairs provided outside on the lawn. Seating at the dining table inside the cottage was rather cramped for 3 adults. Owners very welcoming and helpful.
