“A Great Getaway”

Reviewed 14 May 2017

A super week at Peacock Cottage - a quintessential Cottage in a peaceful environment with a relaxing view. Our highlights include: walking along the sculpture trail, visiting Tintern as recommended and and a visit to Ross-on-wye along the river. It was always lovely to return to the cottage each afternoon.

“Cosy little home from home”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2017

Had a lovely 2-night stay here with my husband to celebrate our January birthdays. Upon arrival we encountered a slight issue gaining access to the property but this was solved within minutes and once we were in we immediately felt at home. The cottage is perfectly furnished joining the quaintness of the cottage itself with a little bit of modernisation. We didn't use the log burner but thought it set the living room off perfectly. The kitchen was well equipped and the bonus of Sky tv and free wifi was definitely of use seeing as the phone signal was non-existent. Despite the number of cottages surrounding the property, we didn't hear a sound from anyone all weekend and luckily we managed to avoid the wild boar too! We are already planning a return visit in the Summer so we can enjoy the garden!

“A very cosy & quiet home with a relaxing natural outlook”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2016

We really enjoyed our short stay in Peacock Cottage. It was clean, comfortable, cosy and stylish, and looked out onto a pretty garden and wooded hills. The cottage had everything we needed, we were welcomed by a friendly note and supplies, so we immediately relaxed and felt at home. Though smallish, the cottage didn't feel cramped at all with 3 adults. We found it a bit hot but were asked not to adjust the heating so just opened a few windows. Beds were slightly uncomfortable, but otherwise no problems at all.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. Im sorry to hear that you found the beds slightly uncomfortable. I hope this didn't spoil your stay. I hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes Nikita

“Great Cottage”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2016

Peacock cottage was a wonderful cottage, homely and clean. Very close to all amenities and of course the Forest itself. Plenty of room to park and a large garden to sit outside. It had everything you could possibly need for either a short stay or a longer one. Would definitely rent again if we were to holiday in Gloucestershire again. Thank you Nikita!

Owner's reply: Hello Irene Thank you for your positive comments and being such a great guest. You will be most welcome if you decide to visit again. Don't hesitate to get in touch. Best wishes Nikita

“nice little cottage”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2016

a really nice little cottage with everything you need, a large back garden with furniture, but I must admit we sat in the little front garden which had better views. Two nice sized bedrooms and comfortable living furniture. Perfect place to take in the beauty of the Forest of Dean/Wye Valley area, the only criticism I have, is that I didn't like the village, a little run down and the pub wasn't very nice, saying that we used it as a base to go to all the places we know and love.

Owner's reply: Hello I'm delighted that you liked the cottage and it was a good base for doing what you wanted to do. Sorry that you didn't enjoy the local village. If you visit again, I would be happy to recommend some lovely alternative pubs near by. I hope you we will see you again in the future. Best wishes Nikita

“Wonderful cottage in a great location!”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2016

Myself and wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, with the bonus of being able to take our dog! The cottage is perfectly presented and in a fantastic location- close to all of the popular walking and cycling routes

Owner's reply: Hi Antony - really pleased you enjoyed yourselves! I hope to welcome you back soon. Best wishes, Nikita

“A cosy country retreat that's well worth a visit!!”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2015

This is by far the nicest cottage we've stayed in. It's so warm and cosy, every need has been carefully considered!! Definitely the place to unwind and forget about work! We just wish we could have stayed for longer. We will definitely be back to explore more walks in the lovely Forest of Dean. We also highly recommend the Tudor Farmhouse in Clearwell for gorgeous food, we were so impressed we went back twice in one weekend.

“A lovely welcome”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2014

The bottle of champagne was a lovely surprise - and a great start to our holiday! Peacock Cottage is clean, bright and well appointed. The fact that we spent a lot of time indoors (it rained non stop), but still had a good time is testament to this.

“High quality cottage in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2013

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. It was in a quiet area with walks from the doorstep into the forest. Also many places of interest to visit nearby. Recommend hiring a mountain bike and going on the 11mile family trail.

“Great cottage, great location”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2013

We stayed at peacock cottage over a bank holiday weekend mainly to have a bit of a break and go mountain biking in the Forrest of dean. The location is fantastic for biking and is within easy reach of the cycle centre and local trails. We have good fun exploring the area on bikes and found the advice given by the hosts to be accurate and useful. The cottage is well appointed but for longer breaks we would have liked an ironing board! The location was very quiet and not too far away from local conveniences. The attention to detail of the owners was very good and the housekeeper was very keen to make sure we were well looked after. Wireless broadband is a bonus as there is very limited phone coverage at the cottage. There was a welcome basket on arrival which covered the basics but the co op was litterally 5 mins drive away. If your here for some biking then its a great location to go from and there is secure bike storage on site. For a break from the hustle and bustle with some good biking and relaxed surroundings with owners and a housekeeper that really do want you to enjoy your stay then this is the place to come. Very understated in its descriptions and well worth the visit. We would definitely return in the future and look forward to doing so! Thanks to the owners and the housekeeper for a great few days away! Gareth and Jo
