The area of Monkgate is a very upmarket residential area very close to York Minster and the city walls. Details of the exact address are available on request. The rooms are, spacious (much larger than they appear in the photographs) and light, and are furnished and equipped to a very high standard. There are two double bedrooms with double beds, a lounge, family bathroom, kitchen diner and a hallway leading to the two mezzanines upstairs (one has the lounge and the other the second bedroom). This beautiful converted Victorian hospital has great character, it is also set back from the road and therefore there is no road or street noise, very quiet. The car park is and gated and free. There is flexibility with the number of days. Usual changeover days are Fri, Sat or Mon, but again can be flexible if it fits in with other bookings. Estimated time of arrival needed for collection of keys, plus mobile contact number.Earliest arrival time for collection of keys and parking is 11.15am but must be agreed before arrival. Earliest time to occupy the apartment is around 2pm, unless otherwise agreed. Arrival after 6pm must be agreed at point of booking, there is an extra charge for arrival between 6pm - 9pm (latest arrival time) the cost is £15. Departure time is 10am.

This is a lovely quiet flat on the second (top) floor of a four storey building. It has a view of York minster and the city centre. As you walk through the door you walk into a light and carpeted hallway, to your left is the new bathroom, straight ahead the downstairs bedroom, to your right a doorway to the kitchen and dining area and then the stairs leading in two directions, one to the mezzanine bedroom and the other to the mezzanine lounge. The apartment is very light as it has two long windows about ten foot long which bring light to both floors. The apartment is very cosy and warm and has all that you would need for your stay. I have lived there myself and have made it very comfortable. The second floor of this building is mainly occupied by business people for second homes or retirement. You will have no noise from the street or noisy neighbors.

Eight or nine stairs leading to main entrance.Quiet location, set back from the roadside, no road or street noise, very quiet apartment block. The apartment is on the second floor, (top floor) access by lift or stairs, good views across the city.Please note, as with all lifts there are occasions when the lift is out of service. Fabulous apartment in a fabulous location!! Very clean, everything you need. We stayed 4 nights with our 2 girls aged 3 and 6 and it was perfect!

“Brilliant stay. Great location.”
It was all we expected and more, real home from home, everything thing we needed. Great location, easy stroll to the attractions, supermarket behind the building. We parked up and didn't need to get the car out again. Sandra made us very welcome, will definately be back.
“Secure, comfortable apartment at York's gate - two wonderful days!”
We were greeted by Sandra and welcomed into the apartment. Once we had our keys we had fun investigating York that was inside Monks gate just round the corner. Wonderful two days. The apartment provided a comfortable, base to sleep, shower, have breakfast and then explore. This is a warm and light accommodation with high windows providing light to both downstairs and the gallery bedroom and lounge. Clever design. Kitchen is simple with all you need from fridge, microwave to cooker, tools and dishes. Sainsbury's is next door so convenient. Simple checkout system which provided freedom to leave as we wished. Thank you so much. We hope to visit again because it was so convenient to the shops, restaurants, Minster and a tour bus could be caught at the end of the road.
“Lovely flat in great location”
Lovely, stylish and very comfortable flat in a great location for a stay in York. Owner was friendly and communication easy and straightforward - very much recommended.
We enjoyed our stay last week when we visited York with our friends. The apartment is in a great location only minutes away from York Minster and close to the city walls. It's well equipped and comfortable and Sandra is a great host who was there to meet us on arrival. The only slight issue is the second bedroom is on the mezzanine and a bit too close for comfort to the master bedroom but we were able to sleep in the small third room.

“3rd stay - Fantastic, again!”
The apartment is so modern in an old character building, it's so clean and tidy and beautifully furnished. The apartment including the kitchen has everything you would need for your stay, and a bonus is that you can see the York Minster from the apartment windows. This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the apartment in 4 years and my in-laws have also stayed here after we recommended it to them and they had a fab time as well. If you don't want to stay in to eat there are plenty of bars and restaurants within a short distance as well as the apartment being only minutes outside of the city walls. The curry house around the corner is as good as always (The Viceroy which is on Monkgate). Will definitely return - thanks to the owner Sandra

“Perfect place to stay in York!”
My family stayed recently and couldn't have been happier with the accommodation. The apartment was clean, warm, well equipped and extremely comfortable. So close to town (5 mins) and with Sainsburys right on your doorstep, it means you don't have to bring food with you on holiday. We loved it and will definitely be back as we have family in York. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay in York in the city centre apartment. Everything from booking online to arriving to the estate went smoothly. I definitely recommend the apartment. The location is superb with the city centre and the supermarkets only a few steps away.
“Beautiful, central apartment with mezzanine , close to Yorkminster”
Very comfortable apartment, plenty space and space for older son to have privacy with the layout of mezzanine upstairs. TV in kitchen and living room. Wi-fi available- a must for most nowadays. Have stayed in another apartment in building and both are lovely with their own characteristics. Milk, coffee and tea in apartment for arrival. Parking in gated car park, which is brilliant and vehicle very safe. Close to Yorkminster, pubs, Indian nearby and all shops 2 mins away. Brilliant location.
