This impressive period property is on the very doorstep of all that is interesting and exciting about York, you could not be better placed for a perfect city break. The area of Monkgate is a very upmarket residential area very close to York Minster and the city walls. The apartment is on the top floor of the very beautiful County House apartment block (this before converted was the County Hospital). The rooms are, spacious (much larger than they appear in the photographs) and light, and are furnished and equipped to a very high standard. There are two double bedrooms with double beds, one is en suit. There is an additional office/3rd bedroom with double bed, (used as an ALTERNATIVE to the mezzanine bedroom if preferred, please agree the use of a third bed with me before booking as there maybe a charge for linen and servicing).There is also a lounge ,a family bathroom,a kitchen diner and a large hallway leading to

This beautiful converted Victorian hospital has great character, it is also set back from the road and therefore there is no road or street noise, very quiet. The gated car park is at the front of the building and free. From the apartment window, which is second (top) floor you have a view across the city, we are so close to the main area of the town. I am sure you will not be disappointed with this fabulous apartment in this very central location.
The apartment is suitable for 2 or 4 people. Families,( who seem to love this upside down apartment), friends or romantic couples.

Occasional 3rd Bedroom. Please note this third bedroom is to be used only as an extra bed when agreed with me when booking or as an alternative to the mezzanine bedroom. Thank you.
Please note, Parking is in front of the building in a gated parking area with an allocated position. We are only allowed to have one car in this car park, if you park in any other area you may incur fines.
Parking is at your own risk I cannot be held responsible for damage or theft to any vehicle.
There is flexibility with the number of days. Usual changeover day is Fri, Sat or Monday, but again can be flexible if it fits in with other bookings. Estimated time of arrival needed for collection of keys, plus mobile contact number. Earliest arrival time for collection of keys and parking is 11.15am but must be agreed before arrival. Earliest time to occupy the apartment is around 2pm, unless otherwise agreed. Arrival after 6pm must be agreed at point of booking, there is an extra charge for arrival between 6pm - 9pm (latest arrival time) the cost is £15.In the unlikely eventuality of arrival after 9pm there is a fee of £40, such arrivals are discretionary and must be agreed upon at time of booking. Departure time is 10 am.

This is a lovely quiet flat on the second (top) floor of a four storey building. It has a view of York minster and the city centre. As you walk through the door you walk into a light and carpeted hallway, to your left is the new bathroom, straight ahead the downstairs bedroom, to your right a doorway to the kitchen and dining area and then the stairs leading in two directions, one to the mezzanine bedroom and the other to the mezzanine lounge. The apartment is very light as it has 4 long windows about ten foot long which bring light to both floors. The apartment is very cosy and warm and has all that you would need for your stay. I have lived there myself and have made it very comfortable. The second floor of this building is mainly occupied by business people for second homes or retirement. You will have no noise from the street or noisy neighbours.

Eight or nine stairs leading to main entrance.Quiet location, set back from the roadside, no road or street noise, very quiet apartment block. The apartment is on the second floor, (top floor) access by lift or stairs, good views across the city.Please note, as with all lifts there are occasions when the lift is out of service. If you are disabled please consider this when booking.

York is always busy, one of the most popular tourist cities in England outside of London. The weather is cool in the autumn, coat needed from September onwards, hat and scarfe needed December to March, light outerwear end of March to end of May , T shirts with possible light mac or cardigan June to end of September.

York is well placed for other important places of interest, including Yorkshire Countryside for walking, coastal towns and beaches of Bridlington, Whitby, ans Scarborough are only an hour away. Larger cosmopolitan cities such as Leeds just one hour away. Smaller country towns and spectacular villages all within 20 mins to 1 hour away. So much to see and do in Yorkshire. York train to London. 2 Hours. York to Edinburgh 3 Hours.
York is the capital city of Yorkshire. York is an all year round tourist resort with its many attractions such as, river walks/cruises, quaint gift/designer shops, cafes and international cuisine. There is a large cosmopolitan shopping area, including upmarket wine bars restaurants and pubs. There is a particularly special atmosphere during the weeks prior to Christmas, a perfect place for Christmas shopping and getting in the mood!
The City attractions include, the famous York Minster, Medieval Churches, Historic buildings, City walls and gate walks, Ghost walks, Theatre, Art galleries, Museums including National Railway Museum, Festivals, Street entertainers and a whole city immersed in history since AD 71.

“Beautiful and spacious apartment in an ideal location”
This apartment will wow you as soon as you drive up to the building....once you're inside...it's spacious...beautiful and is a home from home with everything you need inside. It's lovely and quiet...away from any traffic and there is a huge Sainsbury supermarket...2 mins away behind the building. I can't wait to stay again...it's right in the centre of york with only about a 5 minute walk to the attractions....

We stayed here for 3 nights in October. The apartment is set within a beautiful building, the old County Hospital. Split over two floors, the layout is quirky but works. The rooms are spacious and airy, the kitchen is well-equipped, there is private gated parking and you're only a short stroll into the main streets of York. We were travelling with two kids and there was plenty of space for us all. Would definitely use again, and have recommended to friends.
“Very convenient location”
Very nice apartment.,with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Mezzanine level bedroom ok for family or a girly break as this opens up onto the main bedroom. Beds very comfy.If you want a little privacy let Sandra know you will need the spare bed making up. It can be a little noisy from the early morning commuter traffic and the Sainsbury deliveries. Sainsburys is just round the corner and so very handy for shopping , the apartment overlooks the Sainsbury car park. Very convenient to walk into York, we didn't use the car at all during our weeks stay.We had a lovely week and would recommend to anyone who wanted a comfortable and convenient base to explore York City.
This apartment is perfect and suits everyones needs. You couldn't ask for a better location with only a few minutes walk to City Centre. The apartment itself is stunning and there is also secure parking. I could not have asked to stay in a nicer place and I want to give a big thank you to Sandra who was amazing. She kept in contact before, throughout and after our stay and I will definitely be returning again. I would recommend anyone to stay at Apartment 1
Excellent apartment ,good location, easy to find ,five minites walk to york minster, onsite parking and a sainsbury next door it really has got everything you need
I would highly recommend this apartment and its amenities. We stayed for a week with our niece and were very satisfied with its cleanliness. The kitchen is well equipped and all the rooms are tastefully decorated. The television in the kitchen is a nice touch and certainly much appreciated as we didn't eat out very much and preferred instead to return to the apartment most evenings. The living area on the mezzanine level was very nicely furnished and the seating areas very comfortable. We decided to stay in the bedroom on the mezzanine while my niece used the ground floor bedroom with the ensuite bathroom. We found this perfectly adequate and certainly there were no issues around privacy. There is of course the other double ground floor bedroom should you wish to use this as an alternative. However we loved the quirkiness of the layout and it certainly only added to the enjoyment of our stay. As previous reviewers have said, you are right next door to Sainsbury's and also within a few minutes walk of York city centre. We also found our own dedicated car parking space and secure car park a real plus point. I very rarely leave a review on trip advisor and we don't usually return to the same rental property again. However, I have made an exception on this occasion and loved our stay so much we have booked again.
“Lovely apartment - utterly superb location.”
We had a fantastic family holiday during half term. I never had to drive one as all amenities and attractions were within walking distance. The Dungeon and Ghost walk were our favourites and whilst the girls were at the Chocolate Story tour I had a few pints at The House of Trembling Madness. We love York and we love the apartment. “Stunning apartment in a great location”
The apartment is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a good old catch up, including a central location, a well equipped kitchen, and a sweet mezzanine snug with easy chairs and a sofa. Sandra was helpful throughout the booking process and was on hand to show us around on arrival. York is a lovely city with great places to eat and drink and a good range of shops for a bit of retail therapy. All in all, the perfect choice for a girls' get together!
Immaculate apartment, warm, bright, plenty of room for four people, yet cosy. Five minutes walk to York City Centre. Perfect for a long weekend break.
