“Amazing apartment in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2016

This light and airy and well-equiped apartment has everything you need for a great break in York. Centrally placed but quiet with views over the historic city. We loved it.

“Simply amazing”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2016

On arrival by car we did get a little bit lost. After a bit of male defiance I conceded defeat and asked for directions which very quickly sorted out my failings. We found the apartment block and the female group members gloated sufficiently. We booked the apartment stay in York as a surprise 40th birthday for a friend and stayed as two couples. In this instance we decided not to bring the children as we wanted to sample some of the more liquid refreshment fayre that York had to offer. That being said the apartment is perfectly fitted out for a family stay. The apartment couldn't be any more central to York. A 3 minute slow walk brings you to York Minster and the main city centre. The shops are even nearer. The city is beautiful and i would recommend it to anyone. The apartment itself is spacious (the photographs on the website do not do it justice). There was more than enough space for the four of us to co-habit and not get under each other's feet and we didn't even need to extend into the mezzanine level. The beds are large and comfortable and the whole apartment was spotlessly clean. I had numerous conversations with Liz over our stay and she couldn't have been more helpful even supplying welcome cake and fresh flowers all round! We had a wonderful stay and the only thing that bought our visit down a shade was that we could only stay for a long weekend. We will return to York and we will be booking again probably with the family next time. I would absolutely recommend the apartment and actively encourage people to stay in this lovely city.

“Delightful appartment in a perfect location for the city”

We had the pleasure of staying in this lovely apartment over Christmas. It is very clean, spacious and very well appointed. It has everything that you could wish for, and is very central within a short walking distance of all the sights of this beautiful city. The owners were very helpful, and kindly laid on Christmas decorations that added to make our festive break complete. Thank you once again.

“York-Pope Head”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2016

Our second visit to this superb centrally located apartment. Liz is very helpful, and it is so easy to book and make arrangements online. We were due to arrive during the recent floods, Liz emailed to explain the situation and kept us updated prior to our arrival, gave us very useful advice and directions into the city avoiding the road closures. We arrived no problem and had a lovely relaxing few days in the apartment enjoying all York has to offer, I would highly recommend this apartment for a thoroughly relaxing time, with some excellent cakes from Bettys to enjoy on arrival.

“Perfect, as always”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2015

This was our third stay at this amazing apartment, and I cannot recommend it enough. The apartment itself is finished to a really high standard, with every little extra including reliable wifi, underfloor heating, a smart TV that is easy to work (!), big, comfortable beds, a fully kitted out kitchen with, literally, everything you could need...I could go on. Added to this, the owner goes out of her way to add so many great touches - I think I counted four vases of fresh flowers, not to mention the bottle of wine, baked goods, butter, tea, coffee, milk, preserves etc, The apartment couldn't be located in a more prime spot in York, right in the heart of everything, but as it's down a quiet little alley, and very secure, the minute you close the door you could be miles away from all the hustle bustle. This time in particular we found the location very handy more than once as I could make a run back to the apartment halfway though the day to drop shopping off, such is the lure of York's shops :) The owner herself is lovely, and makes it clear that nothing is too much trouble. You really get the sense, from the effort that she puts into the apartment and her friendly, approachable manner, that she genuinely cares about her guests. I think the owner's approach, along with the high quality of this accommodation, puts this place head and shoulders above any other self catering venue I've ever stayed in. I plan to be back there soon!

“A real gem!”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2015

This apartment is tastefully furnished with high quality fittings & fixtures. It is very comfortable, spotlessly clean & has good wi-fi. It has everything you'll need plus more! Ideally located in York city centre but the apartment is very quiet, an oasis within the hustle & bustle of this lovely city. Due to the river being flooded we were offered free alternative car parking nearby, a real bonus. Our experience is all positive. From the moment we made our booking until we returned home the owner Liz has been extremely helpful and very nice to deal with. The added touches of fresh flowers, Betty's cakes & a bottle of chilled prosecco were very much appreciated. So too were the croissants, butter & jam for our breakfast the next morning. Liz made us feel very welcome & nothing was too much trouble - thank you for a lovely stay. I highly recommend this fabulous apartment, it's a real gem.

“Perfect Stay in Popeshead Court”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2015

You simply cannot fault this Apartment or Liz's attention to her guests. The garage is 2 mins away, we called on arrival and were met at the door, given the tour and shown the cakes and Prosecco! The apartment is spotless with fresh flowers and lovely artwork in each room. My wife and daughter also thought the entire apartment was gorgeous. The location is very quiet yet totally central - Bruks is a great cafe as you enter Peter Lane and restaurants like Byron, Rustique, Nandos, The Go Down are 2 mins away. We also did James Bond at the Cinema on Coney St and the girls did the Theatre on Sat night - both again within easy walking distance. A no brainer as to where we will stay on our next trip!

“An excellent city centre apartment”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2015

This was our second stay at this great apartment. Comfortable, clean and well appointed. The owner provides a first-class service including cakes, Prosecco, croissants, milk and fresh flowers for guests on arrival. We have stayed in many similar properties around the world and rate this as one of the best. The city centre location and availability of a garage are added bonuses. We have already recommended the property to friends and hope to return ourselves before too long.

“Beautiful apartment in the centre of York”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2015

The apartment was spotlessly clean, warm and very well equipped. The accommodation was perfect for 2 couples with 2 large bedrooms and bathrooms. The position of the apartment in the centre of York was easy to find with Liz's directions (from the train station) and an excellent location for exploring the city. Altogether very comfortable and I would definitely stay there again.

“Comfortable modern apartment in ideal York location”

Reviewed 25 May 2015

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of staying in Liz Green''s Popes Head Court apartment in central York. This apartment is on the third floor of a renovated apartment building and has good views over York. A good sized lift provides access to the apartment. The apartment is about 5 minutes walk from most of the tourist attractions in York centrum, and also close to shopping. On arrival we were made welcome by the owner who explained operation of appliances and heating. She had left some essential groceries for our use. The apartment is modern, clean and quite spacious. Well recommended.
