Description

Fantastic 3 bed 3 bath house with own pool in totally private and peaceful location!

There is a large garden and private swimming pool (12 m x 6 m) ,and the house boasts three al fresco eating areas - a large covered terrace , an enormous uncovered terrace, gazebo, and two BBQs along with outdoor wood oven.

Inside, the large living room has vaulted beamed ceilings, open fireplace and some exposed brickwork, with TV, DVD and CD player as well as comfy seating. The kitchen diner has a traditional feel, again with beamed ceilings, but the kitchen itself is modern and well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher etc. There is a sofa bed in the downstairs hallway area, so it does not disturb living arrangements upstairs.

The living area also leads out onto large covered terrace perfect for those cooler nights, and also offering shade for mid day eating..... The terrace overlooks the garden and pool, with views of uninterrupted countryside.

Location description from manager

The Tuscany region

The Tuscan Region of Italy is well known for its warm balmy summers, beautiful countryside, rolling hills, mouth - watering food, and of course its towns and villages, rich with mediaeval architecture…

The Garfagnana region of Tuscany, often known as its 'Green Lung' is situated away from the milling crowds that can often be found at the most famous Tuscan locations and is totally unspoilt, remaining untouched by tourism.
The scenery is spectacular, green and mountainous with views of both the Apuane and Appenine mountains at every turn…And, due to the altitude whilst the weather can be very hot, it is always pleasantly cool for sleeping…
The food is usually home made, using home grown produce, and is typically simple and extremely tasty. Prices here remain very reasonable due to the fact that food is prepared with the locals, and not tourists in mind…The local wine is cheap and surprisingly drinkable!
The pace of life is slow and peaceful – spend your days enjoying secluded picnics, swimming in rivers, or watching locals play bocce or 'cheese throwing'. Visit hundreds of ancient hill top villages, or relax at home basking in stunning scenery.
For 'townie' days, visit the mediaeval towns of Barga, Lucca, Castelnuovo, with Pisa and Florence within easy reach too…

Camporgiano

Casa Capannina is set a minute or so (15 min. walk) from the village of Casatico which is set in the heart of the green and mountainous Garfagnana region of Northern Tuscany. The village itself is 1 h 15 min north of Lucca, less than 2 h from Florence and 90 min from Pisa. Castelnuovo is famous for its Thursday morning markets in around 20 min or so away and the medieval town of Barga 40 min. Garfagnana with its stunning scenery is perfect for walking, picnicking, relaxing, visiting countless hilltop villages, visiting the National Parks of the region. The closest larger village is Camporgiano around 2 km away - there is a small supermarket, shops, bars, restaurants, pharmacy, and train station for easy exploring of the area. There is a restaurant a 15 min or so walk away. Other Activities: Tree climbing park

“We had a fantastic fortnight!”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2016

We had a glorious two weeks at Casa Capannina. We loved: • The space and comfort provided by the house. • The tranquil country surroundings. • The beautiful views. • Swimming and playing in the pool. • Lounging in the hammock in the shade. • Cooking in the outside pizza oven. • Meeting the lovely owners, Renzo and Loretta. • The astounding weather :)

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. We are glad you loved the space of the house and that beautiful garden with those amazing views. I keep saying to Loretta I want to go round and laze in that hammock! We hope to welcome you another time. Lorraine at tuscan-retreats.com

“Tuscan Bliss, A wonderful break away from it all!”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2015

We absolutely loved this house, so much that we have already booked it again for next year! The property and location exceeded our expectations, everything that we had seen from photos and information provided at time of booking was as we expected or in most cases even better when we arrived. The property was very clean and well equipped, the gardens and outside area were very well maintained and swimming pool was cleaned daily by the owner Renzo before we even woke without him ever disturbing us. The house is in a very private setting with amazing views but yet just minutes in the car from local amenities, we had a mixture of wonderful days out going from drives in the mountains stopping at random little restaurants with the most amazing food I have ever tasted to having beautiful days sitting by the pool. We visited the city of Lucca which is about 45mins away and is a must do visit! We also had a Pizza take away from the Pizza restaurant in the village of Camporgiano which i must say has been the best Pizza take out I have ever had! The owner Renzo was very friendly and always at the end of the phone if we needed him, he made some good recommendations of places to go and nothing was too much trouble when we contacted him. We found the service from booking through Lorraine right through to dealing with Renzo locally to be excellent. We are looking forward to returning again next year and would have no hesitations in recommending this property!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review, and Loretta will be pleased to see you again in 2016!
