“Fantastic, home from home holiday destination”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2016

This farmhouse is tastefully and comfortably furnished with good quality throughout and very well equipped. As far as we are concerned it is a real home from home and therefore a very happy stay. We have stayed twice now, both in the winter, and have been comfortable and warm each time. When we return to this area, which we do each year if possible, we now need to look no further for somewhere to stay. Also our dogs have been made welcome as long as they abide by the rules.

Thank you again, Barbara for your very kind review. Glad you and your dogs enjoyed your second stay - hope to see you returning next winter.

“Fantastic house in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2015

Our group of four adults and four teenagers had a great time in this 'tardis' of a house! The separate sitting rooms were great! The kitchen is so well equipped and lends itself to socialising. The bedrooms were ideal and very comfy. The area around the cottage has so much to do for all ages. An all round great cottage for a short break or a longer holiday.

Thank you very much for your kind review! Hope to see you back again some time. Best wishes Jacqui

“Stunning farmhouse, location and views!”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2015

Balvattan is a beautiful traditional farmhouse tastefully modernised in all the right ways. A fantastic family kitchen is great to get everyone together and with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms there is lots of space for all members of the family. The garden is fully enclosed so ideal for our four legged friend. The most spectacular feature of the house are the views of the Cairngorms which are truly spectacular. Location is ideal too with easy access to all the key places - Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Grantown. The only down side to this is the cost of taxis if you fancy a drink whilst your out and about but to be honest drinks on the patio at the house are even better! We'll definitely be back!

Thank you for your kind comments. So glad you enjoyed your stay and had good weather!

“Exceptional”

Reviewed 27 May 2015

Very comfortable. There were six of us so it was very spacious. It has a better equipped kitchen than any of us at home! There was plenty of hot water, a wood burning stove that lit up without any trouble. The heating worked well. It has a fabulous view over the valley. It is only a short drive from Nethybridge and Boat of Garten and Aviemore. We played three of the local golf courses which was inexpensive and lots of fun. It would be ideal for children too as it is a field away from the main road and there is a good sized garden. Highly recommend!

Delighted you had a lovely golfing trip and hope to have you come and stay again. Many thanks for your kind review.

“very comfortable stay near all the main local attractions”

Reviewed 20 May 2015

Warm well equipped farmhouse. All mod cons and extremely comfortable beds. very close to golf courses, Boat, Nethy Bridge, Grantown. highly recommend it

Thank you very much for your kind review. I'm so glad you found our house comfortable and delighted you enjoyed all the local golf courses which are all very close by.

“Beautiful well equipped house”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2015

The house is beautiful with a lovely garden and views. It was even bigger than expected with plenty of room. A great layout and extremely well equipped.

Thank you for your kind comments. Hope you will come back and stay again soon.

“Fantastic highland holiday home!”

Reviewed 28 Feb 2015

Balvattan Farmhouse surpassed our expectations. In a beautiful location just outside Aviemore the farmhouse provided everything we needed and more, from a roaring log fire to a superbly equipped luxury kitchen. Stylish yet cosy, we can't wait to return and explore more of the Highlands.

Thank you for your kind remarks and glad you enjoyed the log burning stove during your stay.

“The perfect place for a fantastic family ski trip in the Highlands.”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2015

We came to Balvattan Farmhouse because we know how beautiful that part of the Highlands is. Our kids were in a ski race camp and we needed a location that allowed us to be flexible as to whether we skied the Cairngorms or The Lecht. We had 5 fantastic days at The Lecht, which is a short and scenic drive away - full of wildlife and stunning views. The farmhouse surpassed our expectations. It was clear everything had been carefully specced: from cutlery; to linen (super comfy pillows); technology and a luxury kitchen - we especially loved the roaring log fire. I cannot recommend Balvattan Farmhouse highly enough, it is obviously owned by someone who wants their guests to want for nothing. We'll be back next year.

Thank you for your very kind review. I am delighted to hear that you will come back and enjoy our roaring fire and plentiful supply of logs! Happy skiing!

“A very comfortable "home from home" holiday.”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2015

This farmhouse is well equipped with good quality furnishings and equipment. It is very comfortable, clean and warm. The position is quiet and convenient with amazing views. We have stayed in several houses now and this so far has been the best. We hope to stay again very soon. Only one downside was that the pillows were not particularly comfortable.

Thank you very much for your kind words about Balvattan Farmhouse. I am sorry you didn't find your pillow comfortable. We provide quality spare pillows in the wardrobes and offer various different thicknesses, firmnesses etc. Since there were only 3 of you staying in the house, we would have been delighted for you to have tried any of the pillows from any of the other bed. I'm sorry you didn't contact me during your stay to confirm you could have pinched a pillow off another bed. We all have our own personal sleeping requirements and personally I hate poor quality pillows. I will check all the pillows which are only a year old, this weekend. If you come again, please let me know your pillow preference and which room you want to sleep in and I will ensure your pillow of choice is available.
