Description from owner

Description

Casa Zola is a comfortable and stylish place to spend some quality time in Italy. It blends a high standard of modern day comfort and functionality with the original “Stile Liberty” design of the 1930s. You will enjoy spectacular views of the Lima valley and the surrounding mountains from all of its south facing rooms. The house is composed of a double entrance, living room, dining room, and fully equipped kitchen that leads onto a panoramic patio to a spring water, salinated pool. There is the large and luxurious main bathroom, second toilet, three bedrooms and two terraces. All the rooms have been furnished with care. Casa Zola is a family friendly house as well as being suitable for couples or a group of friends.

Enjoy some peace and quiet while being situated in a gorgeous village where local Italian life meets visitors from all over the world. We are lucky to have a local restaurant walking distance from the house that offers an authentic Italian menu, always fresh and seasonal in a hospitable and friendly atmosphere.

Enjoy the Summer festivals, the Lima river, skiing at Abetone mountain ski resort and thermal treatments at the wellness facilities in Bagni di Lucca (15 minute drive). Consider biking, horse riding, walking, hiking, zip-lining and exploring this beautiful corner of Northern Tuscany or a visit to the medieval cities of Lucca, Florence or Siena. We are also within reach of Viareggio on the Versilian coast and the “Cinque Terra” in Liguria if you wish to spend a day at the seaside. Bagni di Lucca offers a weekly outdoor market, many great restaurants, and supermarkets for your shopping. The city of Lucca is around 40 minutes drive from Casa Zola and Pisa airport can be reached in about an hour and a quarter.

“Beautiful Villa in stunning location”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2017

Spent almost a week in this beautiful villa. The views down the valley were spectacular and the village of Vico Pancellorum was charming. The villa itself was clean and comfortable - we slept better here than we do at home!! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you may need as was the rest of the villa. The pool is perfect for cooling off and the terrace on the first floor is perfect for lunches and sipping evening drinks. We were initially worried about the church bells but somehow after the first day we didn't here them anymore! The owners John and Cath were very informative even providing detailed maps for a journey to the villa. Many thanks to Cath as well for the great communication about the villa. Louisa the site manager was there to greet us when we arrived and also works in the fabulous local restaurant which is a stones throw away. Would recommend people to go to the restaurant - not only does it serve the best pasta I've ever tasted, you can also walk home in 2 minutes - no need for the car - win win! A lovely relaxing holiday. Thank you x

Owner's reply: Hello, Fiona! Thanks for your words of recommendation. We are just pleased you and family were happy all 'round! I know exactly what you mean by the church-bell-fear. Yet, 100% correct about not hearing them...how does that happen? So glad things worked out just right for you. Best wishes. John.

“What a retreat!”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2017

I was looking for some 'unwind' time and Casa Zola was perfect- it's just impossible to do anything but relax! The village is slow paced and colourful and the locals so inviting that I felt sad to say goodbye! From first contact with the owners I felt so welcome and they couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The villa is beautiful, clean, comfortable and the kitchen is so well equipped with high quality goods it was a pleasure to cook! I spent most days not wanting to leave and just lounging by the beautiful pool and listening to the church bells! When I did leave I found plenty to do and one highlight was swimming in the nearby river- not to mention Shelley and Keats old homes and haunts. I will definitely return. Thoroughly recommend! :) Big thumbs up from me!

Owner's reply: Thanks, Jo. You make me want to be there right now - reading your feedback. Lovely that you were able to relax and lap-up the surrounds. The river really is a great place to chill out. You are most welcome to return anytime...Casa Zola and Vico await you!

“Magnificent Fully Equip Villa”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2016

Owners couldn't do enough for us. The views are breathtaking with a wonderful friendly restaurant just walking distance from villa. Pool is a added bonus, especially exploring the city all day. Great location, beautiful mountains surround the villa. Locals are very friendly and helpful, most speak English. Absolutely loved it, could live there. Local food tasty and in abundance and the wine, 'Wow'. The Villa is in a great location with everything you need, would recommend it to everyone. Fantastic. Thank You.

Owner's reply: It's certainly a fun place to be. We love it. Glad you did too. John

“Idyllic”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2016

it is difficult to come up with different superlatives that haven't been use for this exquisite villa. From beginning to end our holiday was fabulous and the villa sublime....John was a gorgeous remote host who even emailed us to check everything was ok when we arrived. The villa is special......you MUST go

Owner's reply: What a pleasure for us that you had a lovely time. It is a nice place to be and soak in the Italian way of life. Cheers. John

“Amazing villa in a fantastic location.”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2015

The villa was incredible. The terrace and the pool meant that we were able to eat all meals outside with a view to die for. The furnishings were excellent and the villa is extremely well stocked. The extra touches that the owners have taken to make their guests feel comfortable were greatly appreciated. Although the village was quiet for our teenage sons there were amazing hikes to do including a long hike to Blazo Nero. There are many places nearby to visit that requires a car such as Lucca and Pisa and even closer is the wonderful spa town of Bagna di Lucca. The best thing about staying in the village is the restaurant and the wonderful people who work there. Fantastic villa will definitely return.

Owner's reply: How kind of you to write such a nice review. Delighted that you and your family enjoyed Casa Zola. Certainly the place to relax and get away from it all. Hope to see you there again some day?
