Bacton

Bacton is situated on the North East Norfolk coast and is an ideal place for walking, cycling or sea fishing. The area is close to where man first established a settlement at the nearby village of Happisburgh (pronounced Hazborough) . Here ancient footsteps have been found on the beach.

In the village itself was once home to Bacton Abbey (more correctly known as Bromholm Priory) founded in 1113 by William de Glanville and housed the Cluniac order. Dissolved in 1536 only a few ruins still remain, such as the gatehouse, Chapter House, and the northern transept of the Priory Church. Further detail can be found at the excellent Bacton History site.

“Lovely Cottage”

Reviewed 10 May 2015

We had a lovely 3 day stay, the cottage has everything you could need the only thing i would change is maybe a memory foam mattress topper as the bed was a bit hard and i ended up with a bad back but other than that we had a lovely time and the dog was knackered. Thank you Isabel and Richard

“The perfect place for our "getaway from it all" break”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2015

This lovely cottage is a comfy home from home. It is perfectly placed, only a few steps away from the beautiful beach. We took our two Jack Russell dogs and they had a brilliant time running about on the sea and sand. The completely enclosed garden was a real plus point as it meant the dogs were safe and we could relax in the unexpectedly lovely weather! A walk along the sea front to the very dog friendly Poachers Pocket was a real treat and a good opportunity to take some lovely photos. Would heartily recommend Adelaide Cottage to everyone looking for a great place to stay on the Norfolk Coast.

Many thanks for the comments and we are pleased you had a lovely time. You were indeed lucky with the weather!
