“Potential but really disappointing”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2016

On arrival the grounds were extremely overgrown, open the front door and we were met with a horrible musty, fusty, damp smell. The protective sheeting on the 2 single beds was grubby and torn and even when we had put our own bedding on the smell of musty-ness still permeated and we could not get rid of that smell all week despite using deodorant, perfume and air freshner. The double bed was not much better and even with a memory foam topper it was very hard. There were cobwebs all over the place, there was black mould on the window frames and the sills were dirty. The centre of the floors in the living room were clean but the edges of all floor surfaces were dirty, this caused us problems as we were a party of 2 adults a 6 year old and a baby of 11months. We did not use the sofa with the throw on as it was torn and stuffing coming out. The 1st glass we got out of the cupboard for the 6 year old to drink from had a chipped rim and the 2nd had a crack down from the rim into the glass. The kitchen was well equipped but we used crockery and washed it and just used what we had washed. The washer, what a nightmare we had packed according not only to the content list but having had e.mail conversation with the owner only the day before!!!!! having been reassured that there was a washer and dryer. We put a load onto wash and once it had stopped we realised that we had not heard it spin, so opened the door and the washing was really wet, after trying to ring out the washing we found out that the dryer didn't work either. It really did spoil things for us because we just went from one problem to another. the garden is that overgrown that it wasn't safe for the children to play out. We couldn't access the wifi, nor could we use the french windows, to be honest they were really dirty covered in fingerprints. Thankfully the tv worked and there was plenty of hot water. To be honest we got out as early as we could each day and came back at tea time and in fact came home a day early. The property certainly has potential but is in need of a lot of t.l.c.

“Spacious house in great location”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2016

Comfortable bedrooms. Quiet location. Good maps, books, Wifi Great walk and cycle routes directly from property including magnificent Arthog Waterfalls House could do with a little more cleaning, and garden maintenance was poor. Washing machine was broken despite being listed as available.
