Mermaid's villa
Private beachside villa with contemporary furnishings

We stayed at the Mermaid's Villa for 1 week during August 2016 and found it to be the perfect location to access Letojanni beach which is literally a few metres from the villa and very convenient for popping back to the peaceful, enclosed courtyard garden for lunch! Carmen, the owner, met us on arrival and spent a great deal of time telling us about the local area and places of interest to visit - she couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. The two upstairs bedrooms had their own ensuite bathrooms, which was great and there was an extra bathroom downstairs which was useful when our third son came to stay and slept on the downstairs sofa bed. There were plenty of sunbeds to relax on in the courtyard, but it did get rather hot, however a short run down to the beach to cool off was easy enough. The kitchen was well-equipped, but we ate out in the many seaside restaurants most evenings. We had a hire car, although it's not essential as the beach is on the doorstep and Taormina a cab ride away. I'd highly recommend this villa as a great base for exploring the east coast of Sicily or simply just enjoying time on the local beach. Thank you, Carmen, for making us so welcome. … see more

Spectacular views, calm and peace.

One of the most incredible gems we found on our 3 week journey that began in Tuscany with a family trip and our wedding. The heat and crowds made it challenging to enjoy and savour the towns and sights. Being from Italy and having travelled around it yet never coming so far south as Sicily- what was waiting for us is beyond expression. We have been totally surprised and touched by its beauty ESP this gem of a villa- secluded in the mountains overlooking Mt Etna and the ocean below. High enough to savour the peace and quiet but yet only 20 or so minutes and you are in town. Graniti is closer still down windy tricky roads but not impossible in our oversized Peugeot station rental. If you enjoy nature and spectacular views, a huge private pool very well equipped w many chairs and umbrellas. A huge patio long wooden table for entertaining and a very rustic experience w this family villa of stone and years of improvements surrounded by vines, vegetable gardens and even a few geese!!!!! Then this is your paradise. As a honeymoon trip we found this to be absolute paradise for us with the most hospitable hosts so kind and eager to help us even bringing us fresh grown tomatoes and peaches. Thank you. Great Location

The apartment is fresh and has good air conditioning. The bed is comfortable and there is good wardrobe space with plenty of hangers. Kitchen is sparse and could do with a little more equipment to allow preparation of food in the apartment - e.g. a bin of some kind would be helpful. Wonderful Holiday

VILLATRINACRIA We (family of 4 with two teenagers) had a very happy 10 days staying in Gianfranco's lovely villa, with a fabulous pool and very comfortable accommodation. Gianfranco was very welcoming and helpful and as previous reviewers have said, 'pops' in most days to check that everything is OK; that we have everything we need and offers helpful tips for places to go. We were also contacted by Paolo from 'Real Beautiful Villas' who came to see us and gave us advice on places to see and go to, and is a source of great information. In truth we ended up spending far more time at the villa than we originally intended, because it was so peaceful and relaxing, and we were happy to just be in and by the pool, which was a mix of sea/chorine, a decent size and deep enough for diving (2.30m at deepest) and was just lovely! The villa is tucked away in the hills, up a quiet track, with no-one overlooking you in any direction, but it is only about 5/10 mins drive to Santa Teresa di Riva, where there are several supermarkets and a many shops plus a variety of restaurants along the sea front. Taormina is about 45 mins by car along the more picturesque coastal road, and on the times we went, we chose to park in Mezzaro (Isola Bella) and take the cable car up to Taormina, which was great fun. We also went to Giardini Naxos, and took a boat trip along the coast, which was stunning. We didn't make it to Etna or the Alcantara Gorge, both of which were recommended, but we will look forward to doing these next time, as I am quite sure we will be back!
