“Central, spacious, clean - would stay here again” Appartment centrally located, around the corner from a choice of 3 large supermarkets, pharmacy, shops etc. Spacious balcony (larger than the photos suggested), & a good orientation facing onto a quiet one way street.
4 minute walk to nearest beach, nice 15 minute stroll along beach front to old town. Would recommend hiring a car to explore some of the other beaches along the coast - well worth it.
Great family holiday!
“Ideal location for both beach and old town of Alghero” This apartment is ideally located for the Lido beach and close to other beautiful beaches near Alghero. It is a 15 walk along the boardwalk to the old town which is very pleasant in the evenings. The alfesco area is ideal for eating at at any time of the day. The apartment is also very convenient for a number of large food shops so you have everything close by. I would definitely recommend this accomodation.
“Alghero...a real jewel in Sardinia's crown” Having done city trips to Milan, Rome and Florence I decided to do a beach trip to one of Italy's stunningly beautiful islands. Alghero is it seems the place for Italians to holiday (certainly in june) and I can see why. The beaches are well maintained and the crystal clear waters are warm and inviting. There are not lots of English bars and cafes and for the most part we were in Italian company. However broken English is spoken enough for it not to be a problem.
Serena appt is very close to several delightful sandy beaches and Maria Pia beach is particularly fantastic if you have young children, as water is quite shallow close to shore.
There is also lots of amenities very close to the appt (i.e. Bank, Supermarket, Ice cream parlours, beach bars and restaurants etc)
I did not rent a car although the appt has parking but the old town is only a 20 min walk along a beautiful sea side promenade but to be honest I would rather be near a nice beach and walk into the centre of town for a day trip, than a 20 minute walk to the beach. The outskirts of town is far the better option and a cab is easily found near the harbour for return) at only 10 euros anyway) if you are too full from all the delicious italian cuisine found all around you.
The is no lift and the appt is on the second floor but this means you get a balcony that is more or less not overlooked (only one appt next door which at the time was empty) so great for a spot of private sun bathing in the afternoons.
The apartments are very typical of the places that local Italians stay in and so although the outside of the building is not glamorous on the inside it is clean and very presentable.
The Sardinian electricity supply is a bit of a frustration but I understand this is true of all of Sardinia (one can't have the air con and dishwasher on at the same time as the fuse blows!) but we are intellect and coped fine with that.
The bedroom with the bunk beds is quite small but who spends time in the bedroom anyway!
The sitting room is vast and has plenty of space so all is good.
It was nice to have a well equipped Kitchen so that we could balance out eating in/out as we chose fit. Especially as we bought fresh produce from the local market (on wednesday) and could enjoy that at our leisure.
I would definitely come back here again and enjoyed my holiday tremendously.
