Tuscan villa 4 bdrm,3 bthrm,pool,tennis,BBQ, near Pisa and Firenze,pet-friendly
Perfect family holiday

We stayed at the Tuscan villa in September 2015 for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The house is very private and offers every comfort you may need. The downstairs offers a lovely kitchen, dining area and living room which gave us (8 adults and 3 small children) plenty of space for socialising. The garden is magnificent as well with a private pool (accessible only via a rather steep walkway though) and a private tennis court. We could not have asked for more. The four double bedrooms were perfect for our needs - although 3 of the 4 beds were pull-out couches which were admittedly not the most comfortable in the world. Peter and Alexandra, the lovely caretakers of the property, welcomed us upon arrival and were always available to answer any questions we had. You will need a car to stay at this property given it's private location. The nearest restaurants and shops are in Lari, a short drive away. Overall, we had a wonderful time there and would recommend it to anyone. see more
#4 Piazza della Torre. San Ruffino.
Gorgeous, apartment in the heart of the Tuscan countryside.

My family and I recently arrived home from a two week holiday in the delghtful Tuscan village of San Ruffino. The apartment itself is decorated to the highest standard and has everything you need for a self-catering holiday. The views from the kitchen window and the porch over-looking the Tuscan hills and the medieval walled town of Lari were breathtaking. The hosts, John and Luciano, were wonderful and had lots of great advice and tips on where to visit and what to see. In fact, during the first week of our vacation they had air conditioning installed, which was a great relief from the oppressive summer heat. There are lots of great excursions from San Ruffino: the coast at Livorno is a thirty minute drive away, and Pisa, Lucca and Florence are less than an hour away on train from Pontederra( 9 miles). We had a super vacation and look forward to returning in a few years' time. see more
San Martin del Colle
Quirky and perfect as a Tuscany Base

We stayed on a self catering basis as a family of five (3 adults and two young kids). Paolo, the owner, lets a section of his own home so we had three bedrooms (two bathrooms) in the main Villa and use of the separate Kitchen/dining facility. The layout seems odd at first and this is not suitable for disabled access however, for our family it was absolutely perfect! Paulo could not be more friendly and helpful. We only saw him when needed, and were otherwise left to our own devices. We had basically the pool to ourselves which was kept clean and well maintained. Accommodation - bedrooms were comfortable and perfect for the family - they were sufficient distance apart to be private but not so much that we couldn't keep an eye on the kids. They are however accessed via a set of stone steps up the side of the villa so this my not be suited to all. All linens and towels were provided. The kitchen/dining room was a separate building which made popping down to the fridge for a drink in the night a bit difficult! We tended to have bottled water with us though so that wasn't an issue for us. The kitchen was well equipped with an excellent cooker, fridge/freezer and enough seating at the dining table for us all. All crockery/cutlery and cooking utensils were there. We had full use of the outside dining area and table tennis area as well as the pool. I suspect that this accommodation is often let as a catered option as there was an outside bar area etc. but as said, we were using this as a self catered option. Paulo has a couple of dogs, which our kids loved but he doesn't let them run around the villa and checked with us first that we were okay with them being there - otherwise, I suspect, they are kept in his living area. There is also a family of goats (also kept in their own area) which were brilliant! They ate every bit of scrap food we had to give them! The only negative comment I could make was nothing to do with the villa - this relates to us going on holiday at the end of August... the flies and mosquitos were lethal... we spent a small fortune on keeping them away but they still managed to get us. If going at the same time of year, make sure you are well armed. As a base for visiting Tuscany, this villa was perfect. We hired a car at Pisa Airport and the villa was around half hour south of there. This allowed us access to visiting Pisa, Florence and the area of Tuscany in general. You do need a car to stay at this accommodation. Overall I would highly recommend this accommodation if you want a stress free (apart from mozzies) holiday and if you want to see the beautiful area that is Tuscany. see more
