Our stay in Ariccia started out difficult and ended up a joy. The location of Casa Vacanze is on a large courtyard that has limited vehicle access and surrounding streets that only the locals could love. Once we parked the car - not used again 'til we left - and dropped into the Ariccian lifestyle, we had a wonderful time.
The unit is positioned on the 3rd floor that has views across Ariccia and towards Rome (45 min by train). The village of Ariccia and neighbouring Albano Laziale are a great way to experience the Italian lifestyle. No over-crowded, commercial shopping malls, just simple street fronted stores. From here it was easy to get into Rome and see the sights.
The only drawback was that Francesca's local assistant speaks no English and when we arrived late on a busy Friday night, and had trouble finding the apartment building, well. it was quiet an experience!
The apartment was reasonably appointed and comfortable. The only faults we found were; the washing machine door jammed and an extra blanket would have been handy. …
