"Hauntingly Beautiful"

My wife Sammi and I love places that have history, Tal y Llyn Chapel oozes it. Peter has lovingly restored the chapel with great care not to destroy the true beauty of such an historic building. He was very informative and helpful but also gave us the time and space to explore this wonderful area. I will be definitely be returning.

Thank you both for coming so far to stay at St.Mary's .....it was an absolute pleasure to have you visit ...you really appreciated this historic building ....and I will look forward to welcoming you here again one day...
With Regards
Pete

"Third visit, speaks volumes."

This was our 3rd visit to the church and it was yet another lovely weeks holiday. The peace and tranquility are tangible.
We were met again by Peter, who was painstakingly, cutting the grass around the graveyard.
Unlike other visits, we didn't have any visitors to show round. We were disappointed, as we always like to show off Peter's hard work!
We had some really good weather and managed to have 2 good cycle rides on disused railway tracks (Dolgellau to Barmouth and just outside Porthmadog to Carnarvon (cyclists interested in this check I.Net for map)
Had a good meal at the Cross Foxes just outside Dolgellau.
We were very sad to leave again, and will miss the view from the pod when we wake up tomorrow. Nice to have a week AWAY from a washing machine!
To sum up, we're about to book up for another visit this time next year, so Peter and his beautiful property must be doing something right.

Thanks for another lovely stay Peter, and we look forward to seeing you in 2015.
Lynn and Brian

Thank you both for your kind review ..good thinking bring the bikes this time and discovering the cycleways around the area ...they don't come much better than the one from Dolgellau to Barmouth ..
It's good to see you returning to Talyllyn yet again and appreciating the atmosphere and comfort that St.Mary's offers ...
I look forward to your next visit in 2015...
With Regards
Pete

"Wonderful location Property not developed to its potential."

Warm welcome Stunning location Fantastic for military mach loop. We had a real fun week with amazing weather each day. But advert does not tell the full story ! There is no privacy !people are on th… More

Ouch !! Where did that review come from .....?!
You chose a holiday in a part converted 15th Century Church ... a truly beautiful old building in one of the finest parts of Wales ...The convertion of this Grade 2* listed building came with a lot of planning restraints ...such as having to install the Eco toilet system ..a modern Swedish design, and one ,if properly used, is brilliant ..
I'm sorry that the kitchen hadn't got all the trappings of your's back home but surely you didn't need a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier on a weeks holiday ... and to say that it needs a refit ...I only finished it last July ..!!
Our Church grounds are open to the public I agree ,but only a few visitors call and the signs on the building clearly state that it's in private ownership.. we also have an area of half an acre just next to it for your personal use ...
I wish you had grasped the concept of this holiday ...one that can really stir the senses ... and a real treat for most people ...
obviously not you though...

"Amazing!"

Our stay at St Mary's was absolutely amazing. We were met and made so welcome by the owner Peter. The accommodation was of the highest standard and shows the love and care Peter has put into the converted chapel - it really was a delight to stay in - after being out visiting various places of interest or coming back down off the mountain it was just like going home... it really is such a nice place. I would highly recommend St Mary's and can say without hesitation you will not be disappointed in any way. Peter was available at the end of telephone if needed, however, the only time we needed to ring was to let him know that we were going. All you need to cook for yourselves or entertain yourselves was at hand - the chapel is very well equipped in every respect. We all had a fantastic stay and if I were to go back to that same area again, I would seek to book St Mary's as the place to stay.

What a very kind review ...so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday at St.Mary's and Talyllyn ....and being told what your profession was John all I can say is ...Matthew:11:28: ....!!

"Cozy, Bucolic and Unique in Mid-Wales"

Warm, hands-on welcome to mid Wales from Pete, the owner, at restored Chapel in up-to-date accommodations. Morning pastoral happening with sheep and lambs over the fence, and old cemetery to explore adjacent.

Thanks so much for your review ...you were my first American visitors so I was well pleased about that ...and it's good to know that you enjoyed our peaceful surroundings...I hope that your continued journey around Wales impressed and that you'll call again one day ..

"A unique experience with splendid views and wonderful walking opportunities"

My family and I had a lovely stay at St Mary's recently and we enjoyed the scenery and walking opportunities. This is a unique experience with peaceful surroundings. As it was Easter it was a joy to see the lambs, rabbits and even otters in the lake. Thank you Peter for a wonderful stay.

So pleased that you enjoyed your time at St.Mary's ...and it's beautiful surroundings ...you don't have to go far to be immersed in the wildlife of the area ...I'm sure the otters were a treat to spot ...I see that the swallows have now arrived to nest in our Lychgates...always a joy to see them return ..
Once again thanks for choosing your holiday here ...

"magical"

St Mary's was truly wonderful . The location was perfect and so peaceful despite being on a main road . No noise and only the sheep and lambs and birds to listen too. We { my friend and I } did not want to come home and as someone else said the beds are divine.Inside was lovely and it was great to wake up and look through my glass partition and see the chapel and the altar with the stained glass window while still lying in bed awesome!!!!! Peter Mathews should be very proud of his conversion while still keeeping it as a chapel We will be back next year i'm sure Sarah stewart

Thanks for your kind review ...it is really appreciated ..
Lovely to have met you both , and your dog ..and do hope to see you again one day ..

Pete
