The Kent region
In the summer the beach is lovely and never becomes too noisy or crowded. It shelves quite steeply so you do not have to walk to far before you start swimming. It extends all the way to Folkestone which is a pleasant 20 minute walk.
Away from the beach this area of Kent has a wealth of other attractions due to its long history. These include:
• Dover Castle, history from the Normans up to the present day
• Deal and Deal Castle
• Walmer Castle
• Romney Hythe & Dymchurch railway
• Dungeness. Visit Derek Jarman's cottage
• Camber Sands
• North Downs, good for walks and biking
• Canterbury has its famous Cathedral
• Port Lympne animal park
• Rye is a charming town famed for its antique shops
Sandgate is a friendly peaceful village which has a good selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants.
The Ship Inn is close to the house and is a very friendly local pub, Stuart and Wendy who own it are old friends.
There are no banks in the village but the newsagent and the Ship Inn will both give you cashback. There are a few small food shops but the nearest supermarket is the Tesco by the motorway junction. For other shopping Folkestone has a wide range of shops.
Golf is available at Etchinghall golf club

Albion Cottage is a period property and its seafront location is lovely but also means it demands a lot of maintenance, especially that we have had such a harsh winter to contend with. Hence we are continually maintaining it and hence minor defects can occur. In response to the specific points, one TVof the showers is electric and works perfectly and we are sending a plumber in to look at the other two. The doors are minor problems that no one has mentioned before. Similarly the TV is a minor issue that just needs the freeview box restarted. With regards to the kitchen, all the appliances (washing machine, cooker, fridge, microwave and dishwasher) are quite new. There are few personal items around the place but it is after all a family house. Generally we have found that most guests like the house a great deal.
