"Perfect cottage near Kenmare"
Can't imagine a better place to stay near Ring of Kerry and Ring of Beara. We stayed for five nights and had a really nice experience.
Fuchsia Cottage is modern yet cozy with a nice atmosphere, great views of the Kenmare "river"/Iveragh peninsula, and nicely landscaped grounds. It is about a mile outside of Kenmare, convenient to shopping/restaurants, but very quiet. Kitchen facilities were great. Two bedrooms upstairs and one down--more than enough for the two of us. Wireless internet worked very well. Their website, fuchsiacottage.net, has a lot of info, pictures, and a virtual walkthrough.
When we arrived there was a welcome basket with homemade brown soda bread (best we had in Ireland), bottle of wine, apples, milk and butter, as well as firewood by the fireplace in the living room. Later that day, Maria came by and gave us a couple of fresh mackerel they had caught that afternoon. Maria and Joop live next door, and could not have been more gracious and helpful--available, but not intrusive.
We just returned from our trip. Ireland is a great place to visit in general, and Fuchsia Cottage was especially pleasant. Thanks to Maria and Joop for a wonderful stay--highly recommended.
