The East Sussex region
The attractions, cafe's and pubs in Hastings will entertain all ages. This beautiful historic town dates back to at least the 8th century, but flint arrowheads & Bronze Age artifacts have also been found from prehistoric settlements!
Hastings is one of Britain's oldest fishing ports. Boats have worked from the beach in front of the ancient town for over a thousand years. You can buy freshly caught fish direct from the fishermen's shop.
The Old Town is where all the fun happens, located around the fishing port with lots of amusements, tourist attractions, history to explore and the quirky boutique and antique shops in George Street. Otherwise head over to the large Priory Meadow Shopping Centre.
Very unique to the area, you can go search the local shoreline cliffs for dinosaur bones and fossils, especially good at Covehurst Bay. Also dotted all around this area of England are amazing castles and all the history from the 1066 Battle of Hastings (Norman conquest of England).
Come and explore this fantastic get-a-away!
East Hill, Sussex
The area is officially the sunniest part of the UK, and one that is historically very British.
You can walk between us (Covehurst Bay) and Hastings either along the cliff top or via the beach. It will take about 45 minutes!
Navigate the amazing footpaths and trails dotted around the East Sussex countryside. There's nothing better than going on long walks enjoying spectacular views of the coastline, green countryside, wooded glens, castles, caves and wild life. All this mixed with the fresh air from the sea, will provide many great days out.
We can also offer guided walks around the area, showing you the best trails and secret pathways not marked on the maps. Please just ask!
We are located in Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve. It covers 660 acres (267 hectares) to the east of Hastings. Sandstone cliffs, glens covered with gorse and trees, footpaths, nature trails, picnic areas and ample car parking are some of the features at the country park.
The nature reserve is set in a High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The park supported considerable human activity in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds and landmarks date from Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Romano-British, Saxon, Medieval, post-Medieval, Victorian to World War II periods. A large majority of the park has been identified as an Area of Archaeological Interest. Rare birds breed on the cliffs.

"Well equipped cottage with a lot of privacy in a beautiful area"
The Swallows Nest has all modern conveniences, is very well maintained and is situated in a great area for nice walks close to a beautiful secluded beach area with impressive eroding cliffs. You can hunt for fossils on the beach but the cliff area itself is rather muddy and unstable. Be aware of the tides.
The owners are very responsive, helpful with advice but give you a lot of privacy and surprised us upon arrival with a nice welcome package. The indoor swimming pool is a very pleasant extra. The recommended pub The Two Sawyers in a village 10 minutes drive away was exactly as you wish a pub to be with great food , real ale and a welcoming atmosphere. In the area are quite some interesting castles, gardens and walking trails.
We definitely would like to return!

Stayed here to treat our dog to a holiday before the arrival of our baby! We all loved it, the cottage exceeded our expectations. The walks were lovely (very muddy!). It's rare to find a dog friendly cottage that is so luxurious, the bed was so comfy! The pool was really warm and it was lovely to come back from a long walk and relax in the pool. We will definitely be back!

"Home from home"
We came here for valentines weekend & had a lovely stay. The facilities where excellent, only regret was not finding time to use the beautiful pool. The nice touches like flowers, fruit & even a couple of ciders were much appreciated. Tried a couple of the local pubs for eating out & the well equipped kitchen was a bonus.
Came home & already looking for a new bed as the one here was the best we've ever slept in.

"Fantastic cottage, beautiful location and really nice host!"
We normally travel to Hastings to be with our family and friends, and this is our favourite place to stay. The cottage is wonderful, very cosy and comfortable. The indoor swimming pool is amazing, as well as the surrounding areas. And the host is very nice and friendly. We have everything we need and more. Definitely a place to revisit.

"Amazing is an understatement"
This places is one we will not forget. As our first family holiday with a 5 month old son we have the best week we could ask for.
House was lovely. Really clean and everything you could wish for. Lovely living room, dinning room and kitchen all open.
Bed was so comfy and the heated bathroom floor was amazing.
Qucazzi bath was lovely after a lovely long walk with our 4 dogs in the country park following the maps provided which were handy.
And the pool was out of this world. Warm, clean and had everything. Toys to play with seats if you didn't want to swim.
Can't fault this places for the price.
Worth a visit.

"Unexpected luxury - couldn't ask for more"
I booked this cottage because it had an indoor swimming pool and both my children are not yet swimmers. The pool was fantastic - my son went from barely swimming to somersaults and handstands! There was every inflatable a child could wish for supplied. The cottage itself was much more well equipped and luxurious than I had imagined. It really was like the photos - which things rarely are. The bed was huge and very comfortable with plush feather duvets and huge pillows. The owners really had done their utmost to ensure no small detail was overlooked. Large fluffy white towels in the bathroom and a welcome basket of muffins and other snacks, milk in the fridge and a couple of cider bottles. And a huge bunch of fresh flowers and bowl of fruit.
The kitchen was well equipped, easy to use and clean.
My children are nine and 13 but they couldn't get used to the fold out beds so basically we had to sleep on them and let the kids take the big bed. The fold out beds were 10 times better than others but they were still fold-out beds ...
The cottage seemed very private as it was 'nestled' off a winding side road. Was really lovely and we wished we'd stayed longer as only discovered the jacuzzi bath was fun on the last day!

"Surperb cottage in an idylic situation"
The cottage contained everything needed for a great holiday, including a welcome pack, Chris and Erik had thought of everything. Lovely walks and plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. The swimming pool and gardens were an added bonus. By far the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in. A credit to them both. Thanks once again,
