The North Wales region

The Isle of Anglesey is an island and county off the northwest coast of Wales, with a predominantly Welsh-speaking population. It is connected to the mainland by two bridges spanning the Menai Strait: the original Menai Suspension Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford in 1826; and the more recently constructed Britannia Bridge.

Separated from the mainland by the Menai Strait, the Island of Anglesey is a very beautiful and historic part of Wales, renowned for its lovely countryside, castles, sandy coves and, of course, the most famous village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, which has the longest name in Britain!

If you came across the Menai or “old” bridge onto the island you will have passed a sign welcoming you to “Mon Mam Cymru” literally to Anglesey- Mother of Wales. A generation ago Anglesey was that - as a rich farming community her produce could feed the population of Wales as a mother feeds her children. Our farmers are still here but Anglesey’s evolution means it is now an expanding and popular holiday destination with a huge

Benllech

Benllech is a seaside resort on the east coast of Anglesey North Wales. With it's golden sands a clear blue sea and safe beach area Benllech is popular for traditional family holidays. The town itself is quite small (population 2,340) with many residents having retired to the town after spending many happy holidays in Benllech.

Whether you need peace, action, sport, food, entertainment, shopping its all here.

1. Explore its history - Anglesey has been inhabited since 1000 years BC and has a rich cultural, celtic and christian heritage. Monuments, castles and places of interest abound.

2. See the beauty of its coastline, its mountain views and inland greenery providing places for any activity, sport or relaxation.

3. View the modern world from wind farms to nuclear power and much in between.

4. Tire the children out on one of the beaches or visit one of the huge variety of family attractions - farms, fun houses or sport centres.

5. Enjoy - last but by no means least eat at our local venues and pubs, restaurants and hotels - there is something for everyone.

"Loved it!!"

Our stay was fabulous. Jean and Keith are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is of an extremely high standard and that's compared to some of the best hotels in the world that we have been fortunate enough to stay in over the years! Our little dog loved having a good sniff around the lake.

This was our second stay and certainly wont be our last. Highly recommended.

"A gem of a place"

Ty Teiliwr is a modern well equipped cottage with excellent facilities. A comfortable base for exploring the beautiful Anglesey coastline. Keith and Jean Twist have thought of everything and cannot do enough for guests. The location is lovely and Ty Teiliwr looks out over the fishing lake and the gardens. There is a verandah around the front of the cottage and it is secure for small children and dogs.

The cottages are brilliant if you are disabled with good height of bed and wide door frames and shower chair. The cottages are all ramped and the fishing for my husband is excellent. Great for the dogs and the beach is only a short drive away. We are back again this year and possblly in the new year. You will have a great time.
