“Charming gite in the middle of everything!” We stayed at the la maison au fond du jardin. August 11-18. This place is in the middle of everything. With only 7 days to discover Provence we needed a central location. The gite was clean, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen & dining room had everything we needed to eat-in. The bedroom & bathroom had plenty of storage space for two. The terrace overlooked the garden, our driveway and a far off neighbor (which we never saw) with only one closed window facing the gite. All other windows look out onto the yard. The yard was mostly fig & almond trees on gravel. My husband used and loved the pool. We had trouble with the wifi. But Sophie offered a solution. The owners Sophie and William are very welcoming and were magnificent hosts. They are there if you need help but don't hover. Their home is behind the gite and not seen from any room or window of the gite. The pictures on their web site are very accurate. The very small town of Paradou has a grocer, boulangerie, butcher, post office and restaurant. The boulangerie had the best breads ever. The butcher had great meats and pre-made lasagna. The grocer had all we needed. We didn't try the restaurant so can't comment. There are larger towns with cafes and shops within 5-10 minutes.

“Delightfull accomodation in a wonderfull rural setting.” An excellent location. These are beautifull cottage accomodations, very comfortable, spacious and well laid out. The Grand Gite easily accomnodates the larger families. Beatrice and Didier are very helpfull and its ideally located to visit all of the prime sites around Northern Brittany within an hours drive. Fougere within twenty minutes drive. This was our second stay in two years. Highly recommended.

“Ancient home, modern comfort” Our Troo experience was not only a perfect almost-end to our European experience, it was also hassle-free. We stayed in Troo for almost a week in early December 2010. Although the weather was unseasonably cold that year, the cave house was warm and comfortable, offering all of the modern conveniences but also retaining the features that made it an interesting experience. We travelled with two young children, who loved wandering on the paths around the cave houses, the hill and the old church - especially after the snow started. The town was quiet at that time of year, which added to the charm. The views from the top floor were spectacular, and the cave bedroom quiet and comfortable. The town is close to many other cave house towns, and also within an hour to larger towns, such as Le Mans. We even travelled on the fast train to Paris and back in a single day - quite doable and surprisingly affordable. Unlike some other Vrbo properties, we could pay for this one online rather than wiring money, the instructions from the owner were clear, and alain the caretaker was friendly and accommodating, taking us on a tour of the cave house museum and working very hard to communicate with us - we speak no French. As Kate will no doubt warn you, there are few provisions in Troo, but there are supermarkets within fifteen minutes' drive. Overall, we had a great time.

“Idyllic Retreat in the Heart of Brittany” If your ideal holiday is to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of urban life - then this is it. Triton cottage sits in the heart of the Brittany countryside, with good access to local facilities for shopping, good restaurants etc. Plenty of interesting places to visit are close by, including the Lac du Guerledan, the abbaye de Bon Repos and the Nantes / Brest canal. Even the beautiful north Breton coast can be reached within the hour - all on relatively traffic free roads. The cottage is superb - well equipped for all needs with plenty of space both inside and in the garden. It is warm, bright and airy, clean and well looked after by hosts Lorna and Ian, who make their guests very welcome and can offer plenty of advice on where to go, what to do etc. This was our 3rd stay and we'll be back for more

“A beautiful property in a stunning location with excellent hosts” Very highly recommend this wonderful farmhouse and holiday gites. It's rural, peaceful, safe for children and very relaxing. The accommodation is warm, comfortable and thoughtfully furnished - a real home from home. The beach at Quimper is only 40 mins drive away and there is beautiful countryside to explore right on your doorstep. We returned to the UK feeling thoroughly refreshed and de-stressed.
