Our beautiful house is situated in the historical part of the village of S. Giovanni alla Vena which is located between the Arno river and the foothills of the Monti Pisani, only 2 km from the medieval village of Vicopisano; it originated from an old pottery workshop before definitely the year 1800, adjusted at the beginning of the 40s and made it so comfortable from the year 2008. The building is part of a complex of individual houses next to each other, a feature of the medieval houses, the magnificent southern exposure and shelter from cold winds makes extremely stay comfortable in the winter months.

The house can comfortably accommodate 5 people and has 3 beds and a sofa bed in the master bedroom which is very spacious and bright outside, where available: 1 cot with bars for 1 child / 1 folding bed or normal size for cases emergency. The rooms are made comfortable by the presence of air-conditioned and also equipped with mosquito nets, which are useful in the summer months.

The modern kitchen is equipped with all the necessities such as a small oven, microwave, dishwasher, freezer, blender, iron and ironing board. One of the bathrooms has a shower and the other has a tub to sit usable of course also as a shower.

Guests, deliberately limited in number, they can enjoy 2 spacious and comfortable interior, both with comfortable sofas and some modernity such as satellite TV, hi-fi and fireplace, which will make their stay pleasant and relaxing at any time of the day.

Outside, guests have access to a large terrace on the first floor with chairs and sun umbrellas to enjoy the sun thanks to the stunning display and, optionally, allows you to eat outdoors, there are also upstairs a terrace for relaxation and short in the back the house, a small garden nestled among the olive trees and the rocks.

Due to the fact that the house is often occupied by the owners, provides:

To plan your visits to the resorts of many tourist guides and maps to date of the Tuscany and in Italy as well as dictionarys in 8 languages;

To develop cultural awareness of Tuscany and Italy, a large library with books on art, history art and geography;

Teisure, novels in foreign languages (Italian, French, English), children's books, children's games and society for adults (cards, checkers, chess, backgammon ....), DVD of classical and popular music;

Cookware, cookbooks and kitchen in Italian Tuscany in English, pots pottery and tools of every type as well as a wide assortment of spices.

In the village there are small shops for every need, but in particular the property, as well as offering a nice welcome basket, invites guests to a tasting of delicious dishes in a store and pick up a small but characteristic remember visiting a pottery workshop , an activity that has characterized the country for more than 400 years of St. Giovanni alla Vena. The country is regularly served by public transport connecting it to Pontedera (nearest railway station) and Pisa, and the availability by car is not essential but preferable.

Housing guests will surely enjoy its excellent location to visit beautiful cities such as Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, S. Gimignano, Volterra or nearby museums of San Matteo in Pisa Charterhouse of Calci, the Vespa Pontedera or places like Cinque Terre, Versilia, the Apuan Alps, the valley and the hills of Tuscany.

Finally (but not least) It will be for guests to take advantage of the location of the house, for relaxing walks in the hills located just behind the house, full of olive groves, pine forests and thickets of myrtle, all enjoying the peace and tranquility a typical and true home of the place .

Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

PISA, LUCCA, VIAREGGIO, FLORENCE, SIENA, SAN GIMIGNANO etc. are famous localities but there are also small and delightful places like: Vicopisano with its medieval village and the walls of the Brunelleschi, Cascina with its fine historic city center circumscribed from walls and towers, the Charterhouse of Calci, San Piero a Grado, Torre del Lago Puccini, then Bagni di Casciana and San Giuliano with their Spa, the different Romanesque churches like the ones of Caprona, Vicopisano, Cascina, Calci etc.

Vicopisano

There are a lot of restaurants offering traditional Tuscan kitchen, we love to go to Buti but everywhere they are; please read our suggestions and addresses in our information book at home.
San Giovanni is at the center also of typical and famous localities for the “mercatini” that's open markets of antique like Bientina, Vicopisano, Cascina, Lucca etc.
To visit the environs has been preferable to use a car but there are also the public transports especially for Pisa or Pontedera.
