Tresaith is a small village with local residents as well as many families who return year after year for holidays with their extended families. It is very much a secret that, once found, is likely to continue to a play a part in your life. It hooks you in and offers you the kind of beach holiday you remember from childhood without the hustle and bustle of Cornwall and other popular UK holiday destinations. The house is stumbling distance to the local pub, The Ship Inn, which serves local beer and great pub grub with views of the sea. Ceredigion is one of the most beautiful stretches of the Wales Coastal Path that stretches along the whole of the stunning Welsh coast and the house sits literally a stones throw from the path as it passes behind the beach. This makes it a great location for groups wanting to explore this area of the coastal path and more information will be on the website about transport available in the area.

Sleeps 14 people - First floor: 1 Kingsize, 1 double, 1 twin room and a bunk room. Second floor: 2 double rooms. A playroom/sleepover room which has hand made double bunks in it sleeps another 4. We leave bedding for the top bunks but prefer the house to sleep 14 as there is only space downstairs for 12 to eat.

2 bathrooms (one with a bath and shower over and one with a shower only) and also an outside shower to jump into when coming up from the beach to warm up and get the sand off! There is an outside toilet as well.

The kitchen/diner seats 10-12 with an extendable table an extendable table.

There is a large sitting room with Wifi/DVD/flat screen TV one end and a reading/music area with wood burning stove the other. There is a record player and CD player with a large and varied record/CD collection for adult reminiscing! There are a stack of DVD's as well for you to enjoy. We have a Games Box with many different board games and card games.

There is a front sloping garden and a back garden with a seating area as well as a front terrace with views of the sea/beach and a perfect spot for a barbecue and sunset/dolphin watching!

We have been to Cartrefle many times with young children and know exactly what a family is looking for in a rental home. We pride ourselves on being family friendly and catering for those travelling with young children. We have recently been awarded GOLD status for our family friendliness by Approved Family Friendly. We know how much 'stuff' you need when going away with little ones and we provide as much as we can to help! We have stair gates on the bottom floor and the top floor and a safe area of garden at the back. There is a travel cot, a smaller travel cot (0-12mths), a Deuter backpack for carrying kids from 6 mths on cliff path/beach walks. There is a microwave steriliser and a blender in the kitchen and 2 highchairs. We have step ups for the sinks and toilet seats. There are 2 changing mats. We have a Play Gym floor mat and a bouncer chair. The fireguard can be doubled as a playpen for a safe baby area in the sitting room The 'baby kit' will be stored in the Utility Room and can be used as needed.

Those staying at Cartrefle are welcome to use the 2 sit on kayaks that we have there at their own risk. We have left life jackets and some wetsuits there and would suggest that you always wear these and know and check the tides before heading out.

Cartrefle is a favourite with families of different generations. Over the years, many extended families have enjoyed meet ups in the house and its perfect location enables everyone to go at their own pace and for kids of a certain age to have a sense of responsibility and freedom as they can walk up and down from the beach together. As well as catering for families, Cartrefle would be a great house for groups of friends wanting to get together and catch up over long walks and pints in the pub. There is fishing locally at Cenarth Falls and activities can be booked through local companies for coastering and other water based activities. Cartrefle could be a base for a group wanting open water swimming training or triathlon training with the sea on your door step and runs and hilly bike rides all around. Cartrefle is not just a summer house. We will have a log burning stove, books, games and a record player as well as the usual WIfi/DVD and TV. There will be plenty to do when returning from an energising, rainy, blowy walk along the coastal path and as a winter bolthole it will give you all the opportunity to get back to basics, switch off, relax and enjoy each others company and the slower pace of life.

You will struggle to leave Tresaith if you are there for a long weekend if you have all your provisions but if you are there for longer you will need a car to get further afield. The pub, beach and coastal path are all accessible on foot.

“Perfect house, perfect location”

Reviewed 5 Apr 2016

Great spacious house in an amazing location, with fantastic views. House has everything you could possibly need for a stay with adults and children. Owners were very helpful and provided useful local information before our stay.

Owner's reply: Thank you, Kate. So delighted that you all enjoyed. See you again at Cartrefle in the future. Many thanks.

“This is a must visit house and location - we will be visiting again very soon”

Reviewed 23 Nov 2015

This is a beautiful house and location for a chilled out, but water sport filled weekend with family and friends. Even though we visited on a cold rainy November weekend we had an amazing time- walks round the cliffs, surfing, playing on the beach, a lovely Sunday Lunch round a log fire in the local pub, mulled cider and good friends. What ore could you want! Lots of games to play if the rain keeps you indoors- there is everything you could need in the house and it is very clean and comfortable with plenty of room even for a group of 10 adults and 8 children. We could not recommend ore highly - thank you to Jo and family for a lovely mid- Autumn break.

Owner's reply: So delighted you had a lovely time. Thanks so much and we hope to welcome you back very soon.

“Beautiful house and surroundings. Great for families!”

Reviewed 23 Nov 2015

We recently enoyed a long weekend at Cartrefle with 3 generations of our family. A great time was had by all, despite the soaking wet weather we also 'enjoyed' - but that's always the risk on the West Wales coast in November, or any time of the year I suppose. The views from the house of the beach and sea are lovely, and when the weather did clear up, some of our party reported dolphin sitings out to sea. The owners have obviously thought about how to appeal to kids, with a play room well equipped with toys and books. Reading through the guest book indicates that previous visiting children absolutely adored the house and beach in the summer months. Adults were well served too, with the beautiful large house, fantastic views, well equipped kitchen (only one minor quibble - the kitchen knives could do with sharpening) with seating for 12 and 5 min walking distance to the local pub, serving a decent range of food and drink. Really hope we get the opportunity to visit again.

Owner's reply: You had such a damp weekend you poor things but I am delighted that you enjoyed your family time despite this! We will get sharpening those knives (thanks for letting us know) and will get a couple more for the house for Christmas as well, I think. We hope to welcome you back one day to Cartrefle.

Great location, great facilities, lots of room and stuff for the kids, even the dolphins turned up. I think a new BBQ for next season would be good. Would certainly go back to Cartrefle.

Owner's reply: Thank you and glad you enjoyed. You are right, I think the place deserves a new BBQ. We will replace it and we really appreciate the feedback. See you again one day!

“Fantastic location, fabulous house and great owner”

What a wonderful experience ! A real old fashioned family holiday - grandparents, parents and children. We had a wonderful time with everything available. Loved the music collection, the children and grandchildren loved the amazing collection of everything they could imagine including wet suits and body boards. Our only regret was not spotting the dolphins which were in the bay. Thank you Jo for a fantastic holiday.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your kind words and we are so glad everyone enjoyed all the aspects of the house. Those dolphins can be difficult to spot! Glad you made some happy, family memories.

“Fabulous house with everything you could ever need, and then some more.”

Beautifully clean, spacious well equipped house in a truly splendid location. It really did have everything you could need with attention to detail. I have no complaints and would recommend the property and location to anyone and everyone.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are so glad you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the location. Sorry the weather wasn't kinder for you guys.. not much we can do about that though!

“Baby, child and adult friendly - perfect for a family beach holiday”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2015

The house is clean, fresh and comfortable - wonderful position with panoramic views of the bay - dolphin watching at breakfast was an added bonus. Very well equipped for babies and young children, and with just a few steps down to the beach any forgotten items can be quickly retrieved without drama. Kayaking, swimming, cliff walks, sandcastles, surfing, ice creams barbecues and a short stroll to the pub - ideal for all generations. Tresaith is a lovely sandy beach, and the coastline is spectacular. A short drive to the award-winning farm shop fulfilled all our catering needs. This is a great place.

Owner's reply: So glad to hear you had a great family holiday at Cartrefle and that you found the house well equipped for your little ones. We hope to welcome you back again sometime in the future!

“Gorgeous house in stunning beachfront location”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2015

We had an amazing week at Cartrefle. The house is absolutely gorgeous and very spacious for our party of 12, including 4 young children. It is newly decorated to a very high standard and has everything thing you could need (and more) for a family holiday away. Even though we have visited the area for many, many years we found having a beach front location gave us a completely different holiday experience and we found we had to tear ourselves away to go anywhere else. It was great to be able to use the kayaks and this became a daily activity for both kids and adults along with rock jumping and exploring. We even got a special encounter with the dolphins (and baby dolphins) swimming just metre's away from the kayaks! Amazing! Having an outside hot shower, life jackets & wetsuits on hand made everything so easy especially with young children and everything else beachy was also provided from chairs to buckets & spades. The house also has a large back garden for the children to play in when they needed a break from the beach and a large patio overlooking the sea. Jo made the booking process and planning for our trip so easy and we have already re-booked for next year!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review. So glad you had the full 'Cartrefle' experience complete with kayaking with dolphins. Looking forward to welcoming you back next year!

“Gorgeous house and incredible views”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2015

I rented this house for my 40th birthday and it was perfect in very way. It is a stunning house and the views out to see are incredible. Jo was a pleasure to deal with and it exceeded all of our expectations. We are now looking to book it again and take the children, as it's incredibly child friendly and they would love it.

Owner's reply: Thanks for your lovely review and glad it all worked well for your celebrations. Would love to welcome you back with the kids one day!

“Sun, sea and Sheep Rock.”

Fantastic friends and & family reunion weekend over Easter 2015. Great house that easily accommodated 4 families and kids. Recently renovated in "Scandinavian Chic" -bright airy rooms, stylish decor and very comfortable. A fabulous view of the beach means you can supervise from a distance if so desired. Fenced off back garden and patio area means toddlers and babies safe whilst enjoying a morning coffee admiring the view from the patio at the back of the house. The beach takes dogs and you can build a fire as well weather permitting; we managed a beach BBQ breakfast and dinner in 1 weekend. If all else fails theres a pub 50 yards from the front door! Highly recommended.

Owner's reply: Thanks for your review. Glad you had a lovely stay and hope to welcome you back again at Cartrefle soon!
