Description

This riverside ‘Mulino’ complete with traditional Tuscan Arches, is situated in the depths of the countryside from Lucca, and is on the outskirts (1.5km ) of the pretty Media Valle village of Coreglia, where one can find all basic facilities and two restaurants.

Great value for a family holiday with private pool, and plenty of outdoor space!

This old Mill is located 500M down an unmade track road, beside a trout stream. The very pretty village of Coreglia with its basic shops and two restaurants is only a 1.5km walk (uphill). Coreglia itself is situated in the Media Valle part of the Provincia di Lucca, only a 40 minute drive from the wonderful walled City of Lucca itself, 1 hour from Pisa, 1 hour from the coast, and from Florence. The majestic Garfagnana is only a 20 minute drive away…The real beauty of this area is the hundreds of hill top villages to discover and the wonderful countryside…

Location description from manager

The Tuscany region

The Tuscan Region of Italy is well known for its warm balmy summers, beautiful countryside, rolling hills, mouth - watering food, and of course its towns and villages, rich with mediaeval architecture…

The Garfagnana region of Tuscany, often known as its 'Green Lung' is situated away from the milling crowds that can often be found at the most famous Tuscan locations and is totally unspoilt, remaining untouched by tourism.
The scenery is spectacular, green and mountainous with views of both the Apuane and Appenine mountains at every turn…And, due to the altitude whilst the weather can be very hot, it is always pleasantly cool for sleeping…
The food is usually home made, using home grown produce, and is typically simple and extremely tasty. Prices here remain very reasonable due to the fact that food is prepared with the locals, and not tourists in mind…The local wine is cheap and surprisingly drinkable!
The pace of life is slow and peaceful – spend your days enjoying secluded picnics, swimming in rivers, or watching locals play bocce or 'cheese throwing'. Visit hundreds of ancient hill top villages, or relax at home basking in stunning scenery.
For 'townie' days, visit the mediaeval towns of Barga, Lucca, Castelnuovo, with Pisa and Florence within easy reach too…

“Very quiet location with a beautiful swimming pool”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

The House is located in the middle of the Woods and has all the necessary facilities. We saw deer and a porcupine. There is a full rest. There is very much to visit in the region and in the evening you can then cool off in the beautiful swimming pool. The owners are very friendly and are always available.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed this very different place, immersed in nature!

“Idyllic location”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

What a find! Accomodation is in a wonderful location, situated in a valley where the only things around you are trees and the sound of the running stream, house is modern yet tradional and all 4 kids loved the pool! - oh and Puala who we rented the house from lives next door. She was a great host, we arrived early hours of the morning and was there to greet us and also had provided breakfast essentials for next day, she also treated us to some homemade pasta and limoncello. Location great to explore Pisa and coast both (1hr) away and water park about 2hrs away.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the location and the stream etc. A little paradise!

“Wonderful villa in the varm and quiet hills of Tuscany, enriched by the famous Tuscan hospitality”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2015

Private, quiet, well-equipped, clean and comfortable villa with a fine (and very necessary) pool. That was what my family of 7 found found tugged away in the hills centrally placed between Lucca, Pisa and Firenze, not far from Coreglia Antiminelli. This has been the best 2 week stay in the south of Europe that we have had so far, amongst many. First of all, we were greeted and looked after by the nicest land-lady (Paula), who even served us home-made, great-tasting food. First at our arrival - when we were tired and hungry, and later the best pizzas from her own stone oven. Secondly, the house offered all the facilities that we could wish for, including wifi for the teenagers. The house and surroundings were clean and well-kept. We had anticipated a very challenging dirt road to the house, but it turned out to be quite undramatic. Just drive slowly and don't bring a humvee or a Rolls Royce. In terms of "value for money" this has been top of the list, by far. We will definitely aim for this house again, the next trip south! Thank you, Paula, for your subtle but warming care-taking of our family.

Thank you for your lovely comments that have been passed onto Paola, who we agree is the perfect host! She would love to welcome you again! It is good to hear you enjoyed both the house and this very peaceful and olde worlde location! Thank you

“Great House”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2013

The house was fantastic. the owner was very helpful and friendly. Upon arrival late in the evening she cooked for us. She also repeatedly baked bread for us. The house was nice and cool to sleep while it is warm outside. In the house everything is available to make your holiday a success. The pool was lovely, the childeren loved it. One minus point, the road to the house is almost impossible to do with a normale car. You need a 4x4. Just sand and rocks.

“Rustic with a wonderful welcome!”

Reviewed 21 Sep 2012

The villa is what i would imagine authentic Tuscan rustic would be like. The bedrooms were large and good storage space available. The lounge was reasonable although our party of 5 rarely spent time in there but the kitchen suited our needs perfectly. We did struggle a little with the lack of ho water particularly for baths or showers but water pressure was great. The pool was a nice side but not heated and because the villa is surrounded by glorious hills it was not naturally heated by the sun during the day. No sun loungers fitted around he pool but we didnt spend long in there. The villa location is tucked away and quiet. The road to reach it was extremely bumpy and you would need a car to get around but it was a good place to visit the area from. The nicest thing about the villa were the owners who brought us a meal on the first evening (brushetta followed by mushroom pasta and bread) and also honey while we were there. They were very pleasant but the lady we spoke to did not speak English. All in all a very rustic and adequate villa with wonderfully hospital owners nearby.

“Nice peaceful setting with all amenities and good food cooked by Paola!”

The Mill: Had eveything we needed with plenty of space inside. Two double rooms and one room with 4 single beds (two of which are bunks). Good sized kitchen equipped well with dishwasher, microwave oven etc. Utility room with washing machine, fridge/freezer, iron and ironing board. Swimming pool was big and a good depth. Nice grounds and good area for outside eating along with a bbq and parking space. Getting to The Mill: The Mill is situated a 7km drive up mountainous roads and in a very quiet location. We found the roads not too difficult once we got used to them. We found with the car that we had hired (golf plus) it was quite difficult driving down the small track leading to The Mill. Coreglia Antemenelli is a good 1.5km from The Mill, and I would say, would not be within walking distance for most and therefore a car is essential to get to a shop. Paolo was very hospitable and provided us with bread and delicious italian food on our arrival and also during the week when we were in for the day. We also enjoyed the wildlife and the pet sheep which used to visit us in the garden in the evenings.

“Absolutely wonderful!”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2012

Very characteristic house, large private garden with pool and entrance to wonderful little stream. Surroundings are beautiful, lots to see and not too far from big cities like Pisa and Florence. We stayed here for two weeks and wished we had booked for at least another week. We really had a good time and were looked after, and really spoilt, by the owner Paola, what a wonderful host!
