The Burgas Province region
For most foreign package-tourists, the Black Sea coast is Bulgaria, With its mederterainean style climate and purpose-built resorts it fast becoming a serious rival to Spain and Greece in attracting international holidaymakers.
Many, of course, simply fly in, splash about at their Sunny Beach resort and fly out again without seeing anything beyond the parasols and jet skis, but independent travellers will find plenty of places to explore including empty beaches to the south and north
Visit Sinemorets (before the developers gets their paws on it!), the bird-filled Burgas Lakes, beautiful ancient towns such as Nesebâr and Sozopol
There are a number of annual festivals in the region most notable being The Spirit of Bourgas in Bourgas in July and The Appollonia Arts Festival in Sozopol in September.

Sozopol (Old Town region) - A quaint seaside town proud of its past and the keeping its traditions alive - Artists and photographers love its narrow cobbled streets, historic churches, weather blackened eaves, bay windows and wooden houses - many dating from the 18th and 19th century.
In contrast Sozopol (New Town region) boasts a busy modern quarter with many restaurants, cafés and bars which stay open late into the night, and has proven track record amongst European visitors. You can take the unique opportunity to compare and contrast the two areas of Sozopol, and their reflection of Bulgaria past and present.

"A very comfortable and spacious groundfloor poolside appartment, offering excellent value for money with a good onsite English-b"
I stayed at the appartment for a week in August 2012. It is situated in a typical residential area so you reguarly meet the local people. The complex is quiet and has shops nearby. There is a very friendly & established english community onsite. The appartment has a full home cinema and music facitility & a good security system that is easy to use. It is an excellent base for families and those wanting a retreat. It is a very modern & well equipped self-catering appartment - felt like home from home to us. There is a hotel onsite so eating out and poolside snacks are available. The site is well tended and very clean. A seasonal shopping centre with a variety of restaurants and a popular internet cafe is nearby. I was met at the Airport by Dave who drove my family to the complex. He lives onsite and took me to a local shopping area which was excellent value for money. Dave and his wife provided excellent service during our stay. This is an out of town place to unwind but you can get to the thriving tourist area in the capital- we chose the local beaches. We'll definitely go to this yet to be discovered gem again!
