RURAL LOCATION WITH PRIVATE TENNIS COURT AND POOL! Located in the sleepy rural department of Lot et Garonne, La Nique stands in an acre of its own land and on the brow of a hill, with spectacular views across valleys on two sides and woods on a third. The nearest house is about 400 yards away, with just 3 others along the track. 4 double beds plus 2 x 2 bunks. The house is particularly suitable for two families sharing. There is a fully equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms (3 WCs). Outside, there is a large private pool and an all weather tennis court, as well as BBQ, table tennis, bar football, croquet, boules etc. Plus 3 patios for al fresco dining. This is a truly magnificent holiday home.

Lettings generally run from Saturday to Saturday, and in the summer we generally let in fortnightly blocks, though exceptions are possible. There is a local agent who can resolve any problems that may arise

La Nique is a venerable old house which appears in the Napoleonic maps, the oldest parts of which are believed to be 400 years old. It has been restored to maintain the old oak beams and, in parts, the wattle and daub walls (suitably treated!), and has a great deal of character. It has, though, been restored and modernised to the highest standard, and is now both a comfortable and charming house in which to spend a holiday.

The accommodation comprises a fully equipped kitchen (gas cooker, fridge, dish washer, full range of cooking equipment including a microwave oven) living area with a large and glorious cast iron traditional wood stove, which gives off incredible heat, and a dining area with a large pine table, benches and traditional chairs

If the house is comfortable and charming inside, it is glorious out. Neither the garden nor the fields round about are enclosed, and there is a great feeling of openness and freedom. It really is very beautiful.

The front veranda has a pub style picnic table, screened against the midday sun by a curtain of Virginia creeper. On one side of the house there is a patio which leads to the very private and large (40 foot) swimming pool, with ample poolside furniture (sun loungers, deck chairs and a poolside table which seats 12, with chairs to match). There is also a barbecue on the patio, just outside the patio which can be used as an extension of the kitchen. On the other side is another patio which has a fountain, and which gets the early morning sun and is lovely for breakfasts; this also provides welcome shade during the afternoon of a hot and sunny day.

For much of the year the veranda, patios and poolside must be counted as part of the living area. Except in the very worst weather we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner outside, amid wonderful views and birdsong.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

If Bahram (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
